Job Description

The Property manager is the leader of a multidisciplinary team in a 90-bed long-term care Facility which comprises of two departments, Housekeeping and Dietary services. The location is Liwegoati Building 550 Byrne Road. The main role is to oversee the day-to-day operations.

Reporting to the Facility General Manager, the Property Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the facility including Housekeeping and Dietary services. The Property Manager will develop, implement, and evaluate housekeeping and meal programs, including the planning, budgeting, and procurement relative to all programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Operations Management: Ensure the efficient and effective operation of the facility to provide a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents and staff.

  • Develops and reviews periodically protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Implements, monitors, trains, and promotes health and safety standards.
  • Helps in decision-making and ordering supplies for housekeeping.
  • Manage the commitments and deliverables under contract agreements.
  • Develop and implement program budgets and cost controls protocols.

2. Quality Assurance & Compliance: Maintain the highest standards of quality and compliance to ensure safe and reliable services in line with regulatory requirements.

  • Manages and oversees the overall on quality assurance on Housekeeping and Dietary services.
  • Conduct periodic evaluation on food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Delivers customized training and education programs to meet legislative, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Manages records of customer, patient, and employee information in accordance with privacy and record retention legislation.
  • Approves menus and suggests appropriate improvements and changes.

3. Staff Management & Development: Foster a supportive and productive work environment by effectively managing and developing staff to enhance their performance and job satisfaction.

  • Recruits, interviews, onboards, coaches, and directs the work of food service personnel.
  • Conduct performance-management and evaluate employees conduct and performance.
  • Develops work schedules, job descriptions, and job routines.
  • Manages staffing levels, schedules and employee motivation programs.
  • Monitors and advises on work-life balance and staff well being (including on mental health).
  • Develops new and emerging business solutions for continuous growth.

4. Customer & Client Services: Deliver exceptional customer and client services by meeting the diverse needs and preferences of residents and their families.

  • Establishes, monitors, and evaluates customer service plans.
  • Plans menus according to clients' nutrition needs, cultural and religious requirements, and personal preferences.
  • Adapts client menus for special nutrient needs or restrictions in accordance with approved diet manuals and established menu-planning guidelines.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with residents, family members, and staff regarding department activities.
  • Monitors service at mealtimes for safety, application of prescribed nutrition therapies, and satisfaction; follows up on observations; refers to members of the interdisciplinary health team as applicable.

5. Strategic & Financial Planning: Achieve long-term sustainability and growth by strategically planning and managing financial resources and business opportunities.

  • Provides leadership and strategic direction to build client relationships to enhance profitability.
  • Develops all month-end reports, including inventory, labour hours, meal tracker, nourishment orders, and other deliverables.
  • Plans diet improvement plans with clinical dietitians.
  • Proactive planning of future business growth plans, including expansion of scope of services.
  • Strives to participate actively in any department, facility, and community committees as requested.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in health care support services, leadership, and management experience.
  • Educational background in Dietetics and human nutrition management is required.
  • Education background in computer skills and administration.
  • Physically and mentally able to carry out duties and ability to cope with job related stressors and pressures and to meet deadlines.
  • Experience with MealSuite or similar food service software programs is required.
  • Experience using Point click care system or similar healthcare software for managing long-term care facility.
  • Experience in large quantity of food procurement and food preparation.

Education

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in human nutrition and dietetics.
  • A certificate in computer skills and administration.
  • An advanced food handler’s certification is an added advantage.
  • CSNM certification is desirable.
