Job Description
We're looking for an experienced AWS Architect to join our nearshore team based in Lisboa, Portugal. In this role, you will design, architect, and optimize cloud infrastructure solutions for enterprise clients. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and cost-effective AWS solutions that drive business value. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex cloud transformation initiatives while maintaining the highest standards of technical excellence and architectural best practices.
- Design and architect comprehensive AWS cloud solutions that align with business requirements and organizational goals
- Analyze existing infrastructure and applications to identify optimization opportunities and cloud migration strategies
- Develop detailed technical specifications and architecture documentation for cloud deployments
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation to ensure consistency and repeatability
- Establish and enforce cloud security best practices, compliance standards, and governance frameworks
- Optimize cloud costs through resource management, reserved instances, and architectural improvements
- Design and implement highly available, scalable, and fault-tolerant systems across multiple AWS regions
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines and containerized applications
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members and stakeholders
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement proactive solutions using CloudWatch and other monitoring tools
- Stay current with AWS service updates, industry trends, and emerging cloud technologies
- Conduct architecture reviews and provide recommendations for continuous improvement
Qualifications
**Required Skills and Experience:**
- 5+ years of professional experience in cloud architecture, infrastructure engineering, or related roles
- 3+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing AWS solutions
- Expert-level knowledge of core AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, and CloudFormation
- Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
- Solid understanding of networking, security, and compliance in cloud environments
- Experience designing scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems
- Proficiency with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
- Demonstrated experience with CI/CD pipeline design and implementation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
**Preferred Skills and Experience:**
- AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer Professional
- Experience with multi-cloud environments and architecture patterns
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell
- Knowledge of database design, optimization, and management in cloud environments
- Experience with monitoring and logging solutions such as CloudWatch, ELK, or Datadog
- Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies
- Experience in cost optimization and cloud financial management
- Background in enterprise architecture or large-scale infrastructure projects
