We provide expert advice on strategy development, risk assessment, and transaction processes. Within this unit, the M&A offering plays a key role in guiding clients through mergers, acquisitions, and related transactions.

We are looking for motivated students who are finalising their studies or recent graduates to join our M&A team in Helsinki as a Trainee. This full-time Trainee position is planned to start in the end of 2026 or beginning of 2027. The Trainee period will last approximately 6 to 8 months, offering a unique opportunity to get familiar with two of our core M&A offerings, working in each team approximately three to four months. This unique setup will allow you to build a comprehensive skill set and identify the area that best aligns with your interests and strengths. Many Trainees continue with us into permanent roles after their Trainee period.

Corporate Finance & Valuation

Deloitte Corporate Finance advises clients in all stages of M&A transactions. You will be involved in preparing sales materials, presentations, financial models, valuations, and other client deliverables. You’ll gain hands-on experience working with Nordic and global companies, private firms, and investors on engaging M&A projects.

Transaction Services

Our Transaction Services team provides buy- and sell-side advisory for corporate acquisitions and divestitures, focusing on financial due diligence to analyse target companies’ profit & loss, balance sheets, and cash flows. As a Trainee, you will assist in due diligence and client engagements, building your skills in financial analysis, client deliverables, and M&A processes.

M&A Deal Transformation

Our Deal Transformation team provides integration, separation, HR, IT and commercial due diligence services as well as design, planning and execution support for integration and separation programmes typically in an M&A context. We also provide profitability and working capital improvement services. As a Trainee, you will work with various due diligence and diagnostics analyses, including integration, separation and operational due diligence for M&A transactions, as well as commercial due diligence. Your tasks can include peer company and functional benchmarking, synergy case building, client workshop and meeting facilitation, and documentation and reporting support.

Qualifications

What do we hope for from you?

If you got excited reading the job description, have an analytical and solution-oriented mindset and a collaborative attitude you might be the M&A Trainee that we are looking for!

We also hope that you have:

  • Have a strong academic record with a relevant master’s degree e.g., Finance, Accounting, Industrial Engineering or a related field (close to graduation or graduated)
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong motivation as well as interest in M&A
  • Confidence in using Excel and PowerPoint and eagerness to learn new analytical tools
  • Good communication skills and excellent command of Finnish and English

Previous relevant work experience is considered an advantage but are not required.

To be considered for this Trainee position, a prerequisite is that you are currently allowed to work in Finland, holding a valid residence permit if required.
