The team you’ll join:

You’ll join our Controls Assurance team as a Senior Consultant in Deloitte Wellington but don’t let that limit your aspirations. Our Controls Assurance/ Internal Audit Practice helps organisations strengthen how they manage risk, controls and governance across their business. We work with our clients across finance, IT, operations, service delivery and risk and internal audit .

Our advice and assurance focuses on how IT and non IT processes and controls operate in practice, assessing whether controls are designed and operate effectively. We support clients across a wide range of industries, helping them respond to regulatory expectations, improve control maturity and enhance the effectiveness of their internal control environments.

In a highly integrated environment, you’ll collaborate in planning the work, managing fieldwork, evaluating control design, and assessing the effectiveness of internal controls to ensure their integrity.

The impact you’ll make:

• Collaborating closely with your engagement team, internal subject matter experts and leaders across Deloitte. We operate in a flat, highly collaborative structure, giving you exposure to a wide range of people, clients and industries.
• Leading and delivering controls assurance (including internal audit) engagements, supporting engagement managers with the development of clear, practical reporting for senior management and executive stakeholders.
• Getting into the detail of how organisations operate – developing an understanding of key business processes, risks and controls, and identifying areas where control design or execution could be strengthened.
• Applying professional judgement to evaluate control effectiveness and risk exposure, rather than relying on purely prescriptive testing approaches.
• Coaching and developing junior team members, supporting their technical capability and confidence in client environments.

Your expertise:

• 4+ years’ experience in IT/digital risk and controls assessment, advice  and assurance including IT management and tech controls, assurance methodologies and best practice.  An advantage includes experience in undertaking IT enabled project reviews and AI assurance.
• Experience gained within a professional services or large corporate/public sector environments.
• Strong attention to detail, balanced with the ability to step back and understand broader business and risk implications.
• A problem‑solving mindset, with the ability to identify control issues and develop practical, well‑reasoned recommendations.
• Clear and confident communication skills, including the ability to discuss risks and control matters with a range of stakeholders.
• An interest in coaching and developing others as part of a high‑performing team.
