You’ll join our Information Service team as an Analyst / Senior Analyst, based in Wellington or Auckland (with regular travel to Wellington for Auckland-based candidates).

This hybrid role sits within our Enabling Areas (non–client facing) and combines high‑quality desktop research, competitive intelligence, and emerging AI‑powered research practices to deliver trusted, evidence‑based insights across Deloitte New Zealand.

There is huge scope for growth in this role due to the fast‑paced, dynamic nature of our markets and operating environments.

Job Description

The impact you'll make

As a member of the Information Service team, you will play a critical role in supporting strategic decision‑making and business growth. You will enable teams across the firm to make informed, confident decisions by delivering high‑quality research, insights, and market intelligence.

Your typical day will include:

Desktop Research

  • Providing research support for bids, business development, priority clients, and a range of internal stakeholders.
  • Using a wide range of business information resources to research, compile, and deliver client, business, and industry insights.
  • Identifying trends, risks, and opportunities across various client and industry segments.

Competitive Intelligence

  • Working closely with the Senior Manager, Research and Competitive Intelligence, to support systematic information gathering, environmental scanning, and insight development.
  • Conducting ongoing market scanning, identifying competitor signals, tracking industry shifts, and synthesising insights that support strategic firmwide decisions.
  • Contributing to the creation and enhancement of competitive intelligence products and services.

Training and Knowledge Sharing

  • Delivering research and information literacy training sessions across the business.
  • Supporting AI capability‑building initiatives, helping teams enhance their research, insight, and AI literacy skills.

Note: This is not a business analyst role. Experience or demonstrated interest in desktop research is essential for progressing your application.

Qualifications

Your expertise:  

Bring your experience in business research and see what impact you can make.

You’ll bring many of the following:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in desktop research, business research, market or policy research, competitive intelligence, or corporate/academic library research.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification, such as information studies, library science, economics, public policy, or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with natural curiosity and the ability to think laterally.
  • Proven ability to synthesise complex information into clear, actionable insights.
  • Experience using AI tools (e.g., Copilot, Perplexity, Claude) and a solid understanding of AI literacy.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including presentation and training delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted stakeholder relationships and act as a strategic advisor.
  • A driven, self‑motivated approach and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and adopting new digital tools and methodologies.
