We are looking for a Manager or Associate Director to join our Strategy practice in Auckland, working at the intersection of economics, analytics, technology and real‑world decision‑making.
This role is for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, professional consulting environment, can juggle multiple priorities, and still delivers work of the highest quality. You will be client‑facing, hands‑on with modelling and data, and guiding and developing junior team members.

About the role
You will work on highprofile strategy engagements across public and private sectors, helping clients make better choices about growth, investment, policy, regulation and transformation. Projects span areas such as infrastructure, competition, regulation, workforce, climate and public policy, with a strong emphasis on economic frameworks, quantitative modelling, and evidence-based insight.
You will be embedded in a highly collaborative team, working closely with specialists locally and globally. A key part of the role is being part of Deloitte Access Economics, locally and across Australia.
What you’ll do
Your role will combine technical depth, leadership and client impact, including:
- Applying economic reasoning, structured frameworks and strategic thinking to solve complex client problems
- Leading and delivering advanced modelling and data analysis, including economic modelling, forecasting, scenario analysis and datadriven insights
- Using modern analytics tools and emerging AI techniques to enhance insight, efficiency and impact
- Translating complex analysis into clear, compelling narratives for clients
- Owning client relationships day-to-day, including presenting findings, facilitating discussions and advising on next steps
- Managing multiple workstreams in parallel in a dynamic, time sensitive environment
- Leading, coaching and developing junior team members, setting high standards and supporting their growth
- Working collaboratively across teams, disciplines and geographies
Qualifications
What we’re looking for
We’re seeking someone who combines strong technical capability with consulting judgment and leadership presence.
You will bring:
- Deep experience in economic modelling and data analysis (essential). This role is hands-on and technical, and you need the experience to lead juniors in the team
- A postgraduate qualification in economics, statistics, data science or a related discipline
- Experience applying economic and analytical frameworks to realw-orld strategy or policy questions
- Proven ability to work with tools such as R, Python, Stata, EViews or similar, with a curiosity for AI‑enabled approaches
- Experience enabling and mentoring junior consultants
- Comfort working directly with clients, including presenting complex ideas clearly and persuasively
- The ability to manage multiple priorities, stay organised under pressure, and deliver high-quality work at pace
- A collaborative mindset. You enjoy working in teams and believe better outcomes come from working together
- Experience in a consulting or advisory environment, and familiarity with the New Zealand economic context, will be highly regarded.
