You will join our national Finance team as a Commercial Finance Business Partner based in our Tāmaki-makau-rau / Auckland office.

This team sits at the heart of Deloitte’s commercial operations, delivering high-quality financial insights that support strategic decision-making and enable sustainable business growth. We build and manage financial models, dashboards, and reporting tools that empower our client-facing teams to operate with clarity and confidence.

In this role, you will partner closely with leaders across our Technology & Transformation (T&T) business unit, providing commercial expertise and financial stewardship. You’ll shape how projects are planned, managed, and reviewed, ensuring the right information drives the right outcomes. Job Description

The impact you’ll make:

You will be the commercial finance expert who brings rigour, insight, and strategic thinking to our Technology & Transformation portfolio.

  • Transform data into meaningful financial insights that guide commercial decision-making.
  • Provide comprehensive upfront modelling, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for project activities.
  • Track and control project milestones, manage expenditure, and ensure compliance with Deloitte policies and financial governance.
  • Apply accurate revenue recognition principles and maintain the integrity of engagement financials.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive improved project performance.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance project accounting practices and implement process improvements that increase accuracy and efficiency.
  • Guide engagement teams on reconciliations, billing milestones, and preparation of executive‑level updates.
  • Support the T&T CFO and COO with financial analysis, including timesheet analytics, rate reviews, and WIP monitoring.
  • Lead monthly account reviews with a focus on major engagements and their impact on financial outcomes.
  • Assist with annual planning and quarterly forecasting cycles.
  • Maintain accurate client and engagement information to support reliable reporting.
  • Deliver high-quality regular and ad hoc reports that meet business requirements.
  • Proactively identify financial risks, highlight emerging issues, and support teams ahead of key reporting deadlines.
  • Contribute to a strong commercial risk mindset across the business unit.
  • Take ownership of your development, seeking opportunities to upskill and expand your commercial and technical capability.
  • Mentor and support junior team members while contributing positively to a collaborative team culture.

Qualifications

Your expertise:

  • A recognised accounting qualification (CAANZ, CPA, AT, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Minimum 1 year post‑qualification experience (PQE) in commercial finance or a related field.
  • Strong analytical capability, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using ERPs (SAP, TM1, PowerBI).
  • Proven experience in financial modelling, project accounting, and reconciliations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to financial accuracy.
  • Sound understanding of accounting principles and project‑related KPIs.
  • Strong communication skills — able to engage confidently and clearly with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience using reporting suites and developing insights from financial datasets.
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work as part of a high‑performing team.
  • Ability to prioritise competing deadlines while maintaining high-quality outputs.
  • Confidence to take ownership of systems, processes, and areas of responsibility.
  • A proactive, adaptable attitude and a genuine drive to learn and grow.
