Main Purpose of Job

Step into a role where you’ll help shape the future of finance. As part of our Finance Transformation team, you’ll collaborate with CFOs, finance leaders, and executive clients to solve their most complex challenges. Leveraging Deloitte’s unmatched resources and deep industry insights, you’ll deliver innovative, market-driven solutions that modernize finance functions, elevate performance, and drive meaningful organizational change. As the Finance Operate Lead, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the development and scaling of the Finance Operate function to deliver exceptional value to our clients. You will lead high-level client engagements, transforming, managing, and optimizing finance, tax, and accounting operations to drive financial digitization, strategic sourcing, and process efficiencies, blending technical expertise with technology to deliver sustainable, tech-enabled, end-to-end finance solutions to clients.

Working cross-functionally, you will drive excellence, advocate for best practices, and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

You will also focus on accelerating the growth of the business by trailblazing the market and forging strong C-suite business relationships with key clients.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and markets for Finance Operate 
  • Collaborate with senior leadership across ACS to develop and implement growth strategies
  • Conduct financial analysis and due diligence on the market to identify finance operate Pipeline
  • Support and work with Global on building out Ascend for Operate BPO Control tower
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, clients, and partners
  • Provide financial insights and modelling to support strategic decision-making
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform business development initiatives.

Key Performance Areas

  1. Finance Transformation & Operations
  • Redesigning and running finance functions (e.g., accounting, tax) to improve cost, efficiency, and quality
  1. Strategic Leadership
  • Guiding teams to deliver complex, high-impact projects, often focusing on technology-driven transformations (e.g., Cloud-based finance applications)
  1. Client Relationship Management
  • Serving as a trusted advisor, managing stakeholder expectations, and delivering value-driven services to clients
  1. Business Development
  • Driving the growth of the Finance Operate practice, identifying new opportunities, and expanding the service portfolio
  1. Leadership and Talent Development
  • Mentoring junior staff, fostering a collaborative culture, and ensuring high-performance standards and continuous learning.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements

  • CA (SA) or equivalent
  • 10+ years of top-tier management consulting or other professional services experience in finance and accounting with a focus on finance operations, risk or transformation
  • Minimum 5 years in a senior management role
  • 5+ years business development experience and a track record of engaging at C-suite level
  • Proven skills, experience and capability across financial reporting and technology implementation
  • Demonstrated experience in business alignment, strategic thinking and leadership
  • Experience mentoring and leading junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.

Preferred requirements

  • An MBA or other postgraduate qualification is preferred but not essential.
