Job Description
Africa Talent by Deloitte is seeking a talented Indirect Tax Consultant to join our team in Johannesburg, South Africa. As a VAT advisor, you will be part of an internationally operating team specialized in advising large companies, both Dutch and non-Dutch, in indirect taxes, supply chain optimization, mergers & acquisitions, audit investigations, alignment processes with tax authorities, interim VAT management, ensuring (foreign) VAT compliance as well as technology and ERP-related projects.
You will be responsible for the following:
- Analysing complex indirect tax issues and provide innovative solutions to clients.
- Preparing and reviewing indirect tax returns, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations.
- Conducting research on tax laws, regulations, and court decisions to support client advisory services.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive tax planning strategies.
- Assisting in the preparation of client presentations and proposals for new business opportunities.
- Staying up to date with changes in indirect tax legislation and communicate impacts to clients and team members.
- Contributing to the development of junior team members through knowledge sharing and mentoring.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in law, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Fiscal Economics, or a related field
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
