Job Description

  • Specialist role supporting the Project services team to standardize project processes and effectively deliver on project services system upgrades and enhancement projects.
  • Provides technical support to the projects services accountants in business for all PS related queries.
  • Compliance with standardized project services processes and controls aligned to Deloitte’s risk processes and governance

Strategic Impact

  • Supports leadership in the delivery of services to clients in line with the defined strategic objectives:
    • Provides support to management in the implementation of change initiatives. 
    • Works with team to complete work by set deadlines and advising manager of any issues prior to deadlines.
  • Develops relationships with Project Accountants in business to understand their business and requirements.
  • Raises effective solutions to address issues in area of expertise that may enhance / renew service offerings to  business

  • Independently delivers quality work within area of expertise, within deadlines.
  • Provides business with sound professional advice and support on issues arising within area of expertise without reference to superior.
  • Applies solutions to technical issues that arise within area of expertise, with minimal input from management.
  • Proactively researches latest thought leadership within area of expertise and share with team as input to improved delivery to business.
  • Communicates regularly with both line manager and business to meet deliverable expectations in specific area of expertise

Operational Effectiveness

  • Proactively identifies technical problems that arise that may affect delivery and propose resolutions to address these.
  • Independently delivers on designated tasks within area of expertise.
  • Provides line manager with detailed reporting on status of deliverables on a regular basis.
  • Manages risk in area of engagement in alignment with Deloitte policies and processes.
  • Reviews own work prior to submission to ensure a high standard of quality and provide guidance to project service accountants in business on quality standards

Development/ Growth of Team

  • Shares expertise and knowledge with Project Services Accountants
  • Actively works to address development areas identified.
  • Coaches / mentors project services accountants in business
  • May act as coach to project services accountants in business or junior staff within Finance

Core Technical/Professional

Execution of Project Services tasks (batch jobs and system reminders)

  • Schedule weekly job batch for firmwide timesheet reminder.
  • Opening and closing of the monthly timesheet period
  • Schedule weekly and month end batch jobs for revenue recognition run and download of log results.
  • Process weekly batch for unposted time (overtime approved after month end)
  • Extract bimonthly unposted time with error logs.
  • Run the monthly “Set forecast month” job batch.
  • Schedule the revaluation job batch for all company codes after rates update.
  • Schedule the weekly pricing job batch

Reporting

  • Extract and compile the monthly unapproved overtime report.
  • Extract and compile the unassigned work package report.
  • Extract and compile the unposted invoices report.
  • Extract and compile the unassigned services offerings report.
  • Extract and compile the unassigned revenue report.
  • Extract and compile the non-billable expenses report.

Project Services Financial Analysis and Business Support

  • Perform analysis of profit/loss impact of complex projects after project completion
  • Ad hoc project services assistance to be provided to business if required which is not limited to project creation, billing and project code closure

Governance

  • Complies with standardized Project Services processes and controls aligned to Deloitte’s risk processes and governance.

Specialised Technical

Project Services SAP module Support

  • Management and resolution of ServiceNow mailbox for all PS queries raised by business including “how to” queries.
  • Logging of technical PS calls to ATS ServiceNow.
  • Provide business input to SAP on technical queries if required.
  • Perform detailed project services including end to end testing during the SAP upgrade cycles.
  • Supports Project Services team with testing of new project services scope items and system enhancements.
  • Preparation of training material and facilitation of system enhancement training and best practices to Project Services Accountants from business.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree (Hons in Finance / Accounting)
  • Postgraduate qualification in Finance / Accounting, preferred but not essential

Experience

  • 5 years in Finance

Technical

  • Sound financial accounting knowledge and understanding
  • In-depth understanding of the full end to end Project Services module including revenue recognition methodologies at Deloitte.
  • A solid understanding of all accounting entries related to Project Services.
  • Demonstrated capability in interaction at all levels, briefing, analysis and project management skills.
  • Experience in drafting and delivering presentations.
  • Good report writing skills.
