About the Division

As Africa Technology Services (ATS), our objective is to provide the firm and our people with the means, knowledge and technical support to fulfil our professional responsibilities. The ATS division serves as a support function at Deloitte and is comprised of the following teams:

Job Description

Main Purpose of Job

  • Champion leadership in the implementation of strategy within the business through effective management and development of the team and building of strong relationships across serviced business areas.
  • Develops and maintains the vision and strategy in line with business objectives and priorities and considering key client requirements, regulatory requirements, and Technology trends.
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive Infrastructure and Cloud program for Africa and oversees the execution.
  • Manages research and development activities designed to assess need, analyse costs and benefits and develops strategies for deploying progressive Infrastructure and Cloud techniques and technologies.
  • Manage the IT Infrastructure, Networks, Cloud and Collaboration (INCC) environment for Deloitte Africa to meet the agreed Service Levels with Global and the business. The INCC environment is the backbone of the Business Systems for Deloitte and must be reliable, stable, and well managed to minimise IT Infrastructure down time for the firm.
  • Manage the INCC team to ensure stability of this environment following a structured process; leverage off the lessons learned to a supplement existing Africa Technology Services (ATS) approaches and methodologies.
  • Ensure preventative maintenance measures are in place to minimise risk to the firm and to manage service levels. Manage incidents, develop, and ensure that the required plans, architecture, and strategies are in place for this area.
  • Implement where possible, the required monitoring tools to achieve service levels, prevent down time and identify areas for improvement.
  • Champion and lead the client solutions in the Cloud, define procedures for deployment of new installations, system upgrades and ongoing operations. In addition, system up time and performance will be key operational metrics maintained by the Leader. The Leader will be instrumental in selecting solutions, managing costs, and directing capital investments.
  • Adopt and deploy cloud solution to embrace the Cloud First Strategy of Deloitte Africa and Deloitte Global.
  • Sets and implements consistent Standards, Uniformity and Security for the Infrastructure and Cloud operations and support. Drive adoption of Infrastructure and cloud policies and standards; monitor compliance with policies and standards, develop risk treatment plan, and implement remediation plans (as needed) to address noncompliance with policies and standards.
  • Align with Deloitte Technology (Global) on policies, standards, and architectures.
  • Be part of a Deloitte Global CTO organisation and have the opportunity to shape the future of the IT landscape of the Deloitte Africa Member firm and Deloitte Global.
  • Manage the budget and forecast within the Infrastructure Team as this would have a major impact on the total IT Budget (especially in the area of connectivity).
  • Responsible for all IT infrastructure nationally including Storage and processing, IT Facilities, Utilities, Workstation Image, connectivity (data and voice communications).
  • Manage the Infrastructure and Cloud staff, including hiring, training, talent development and performance management.
  • Manage external resources and third-party SLA’s including supporting contracts negotiations and managing external resources.

  • Maintains robust succession plan for all senior/critical resource, depending on the profile / need expertise.

Budgets / Profitability

  • Provides annual budget input for area of responsibility for approval and integration into Service Area budget.
  • Manages costs for designated area and ensures time and expenses are submitted weekly

Cloud Maintenance & Development

  • Cloud
    • Lead, advise and responsible for the implementation of cloud-based initiatives to ensure that systems are scalable, reliable, secure, and supportable and that they achieve business and IT performance and budgetary objectives.
    • Brokerage of the Cloud platform and products offerings to internal stakeholders and external clients
    • Conduct technical studies and evaluations of business area requirements and recommends to management appropriate cloud technology options.
    • Create a standard for Cloud services across Africa.
    • Distill business requirements to define scope and functionality of product offering.
    • Design creative technical solutions to solve business solutions.
    • Conduct third-party product evaluation and lead integration when necessary.
    • Responsible for the overall operation of Deloitte’s Cloud Intelligence offering. This includes uptime, deployment, and administration.
    • Oversee vendor/product evaluations, benchmarking, prototyping and on boarding applications to the cloud.
  • Responsible and accountable for the acquisition, implementation and maintenance and development of IT Infrastructure nationally.
  • The definition, agreement, and review of all operations of statements of services agreements, within IT infrastructure, namely. This includes:

-IT Facilities

-Authentication (MS Active Directory)

-Electronic Mail (MS Exchange)

-Backups & Restore

-File & Print services

-Connectivity (data & voice), Data: LAN, WAN, GWAN, Internet, Broadband, Wireless; Voice: SMS, Voicemail, Telephony management

-Operation Security, for the above

  • To ensure that it operates at optimal levels.
  • Provide input into other departmental Strategies and Architectures, Projects, and Business cases.
  • Manage and measure third-party vendors against an agreed contract/SLA.
  • Manage vendor contracts and payment.
  • IT infrastructure uptime.
  • Network perimeter and internal security and authentication.
  • Monitoring, Configuration and Capacity Management of all IT infrastructure services provided.

Minimum Experience

  • 5-10 years ICT experience relevant to an IT Operations environment with strong emphasis on an IT Infrastructure environment with a minimum of 5 years management experience.
  • Business Acumen, ICT skill set, Good practical experience in meeting client expectations, with at least 3-5 years management experience.
  • An understanding of change control, incident management, problem management, vendor relationship management & contract management experience.
  • Good financial management experience (budgets, reduction of costs), negotiation techniques/skills.
  • IT Management in EUC and IT Infrastructure.

Desired Experience

  • 10+ years ICT experience relevant to an IT Operations environment with strong emphasis on an IT Infrastructure and cloud environment with a minimum of 5-8 years management experience with responsibilities of making decisions as a CTO for Deloitte Africa.
