Job Description

Main Purpose of Job

 We are looking for experienced professionals in regulatory and compliance. Your role will be to focus on the delivery of client engagements, share knowledge and experience with others and understand the objectives for clients and align your own work to objectives.

Regulatory Controls Assessment and Design:

  • Evaluate regulatory control design issues, develop mitigation plans, and assess and design regulatory controls procedures and policies
  • Leads interactions with client’s business stakeholders to gather key information on controls components (e.g., control environment, risk assessment, control activities) to enable a comprehensive assessment
  • Employs an analytics and technology-driven approach to controls assessment to enable real-time analysis and data-driven decisions
  • Independently performs testing of regulatory controls for design and operating effectiveness
  • Drives analysis of control deficiencies to prioritize gaps and develop targeted mitigation plans
  • Assesses and develops policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and alignment with business goals and objectives.

Specialized Technical capabilities:

Provides Regulatory Intelligence: Ability to increase effectiveness of regulatory strategies by identifying and articulating intelligent data:

  • Defines a comprehensive and holistic view of the constituent system in which the client operates
  • Analyzes the impact of possible restrictions or regulations in each part of the client’s value chain and assesses the company’s ability to respond
  • Keeps in mind the client’s regulatory strategy priorities when defining KPIs and metrics to enable effective execution and measurable progress

Implements Regulatory Compliance Change / Response Programs: Ability to assess various components of the client’s regulatory compliance system to identify gaps and prioritise solutions:

  • Conducts regulatory compliance current-state assessments, identifies gaps and prioritizes remediation by leveraging an in-depth understanding of regulations (current and potential) that are relevant to the client’s business
  • Analyzes key components of the client’s regulatory reporting process (e.g., automation, documentation, review and approval) to identify gaps with leading practices
  • Assesses policies and procedures to analyze compliance with regulatory requirements and evaluate overall operational efficiency

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications  

  • 4-year legal degree or 2 year post graduate legal degree.
  • Diploma/ Certificate in regulation/ compliance is advantageous
  • Honours / Masters is advantageous

Desired Qualifications    

  • LLB Degree

Minimum Experience      

  • Minimum 3 years’ post articles work experience.
  • 4 - 5 years’ work experience in regulatory and compliance, with a focus on regulatory advisory
  • 2 years’ consulting experience is advantageous
  • Financial services legislation or regulation expertise

Desired Experience         

  • 2 years’ consulting experience which must include at least 1 years’ regulatory interpretation and policy drafting experience.
  • Regulatory research across African jurisdictions.
  • Regulatory research in respect of digital and technology implementation projects
  • Data protection and management experience advantageous
