About the Department

The Quality, Independence, Risk and Reputation (QIRR) Department deals with any issues that potentially expose Deloitte to risk. The issues impacting the firm are varied and may include reputation, operational, litigation and regulatory risk.

Risk Management is about identifying and managing risks to the Firm and it includes conducting checks necessary to ensure that the individual professionals act and make decisions that achieve the objectives of the firm, comply with professional and legal requirements and that they are ethical. The role of the Quality, Independence, Risk & Reputation team is not only to make sure there is an effective compliance framework in place, but also to raise awareness of the issues involved and encourage consultation whenever questions or concerns arise.

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to join our Internal Client Services Department – Quality, Independence, Risk and Reputation (QIRR) team as a Risk & Independence Manager. This position will be based in our Nairobi office in Kenya.

Job Description

Main purpose of the job

The successful candidate will provide support to the Firm on quality, independence, risk & reputation matters by building networks and relations with relevant regional and global functions and regional regulators/professional bodies, monitor and interpret changes in quality, independence, risk & reputation policies globally and in the region and advice on implications to the Firm.

What you will do

  • Manage and oversee QIRR related projects and tasks;
  • Build relationships with the Firm’s key regulators and professional bodies;
  • Collaborate with the Africa QIRR team on global initiatives;
  • Keep abreast with technical developments in the profession and country, in order to anticipate client needs, and offer value added and practical business solutions;
  • Leverage knowledge and contribute to proper knowledge management within the department;
  • Identify key strategic gaps in the business and provide solutions;
  • Manage the implementation of strategic imperatives in line within the QIRR departmental strategy;
  • Build professional relationships within service lines to understand business needs in areas of responsibility; and
  • Mentor, guide team members and share expertise and knowledge on an ongoing basis to support their professional development.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science or other related field from a recognized university.
  • At least 7 years of relevant work experience in the service industry.
  • CPA or ACCA qualification is an added advantage.
  • Experience in a professional services firm and experience in risk management & compliance is an added advantage.
  • Be a Kenyan citizen or eligible to work in Kenya.
