Job Description
Main Purpose of Job
As part of the Africa Corporate Affairs, Communications, team, the experienced communications consultant will support a variety of communications needs both internally and externally. The role will be responsible for executing against our communications strategies and plans. Key outcomes are:
Collaborate with internal client services and business communication leads for co-ordinated, on-brand and relevant, impactful internal communication activations.
Position the brand through sourcing, producing and publishing content on the firm's owned communication channels as well as relevant third-party sites.
Collaborate with regional communication peers for an integrated Africa communications experience.
Oversight, quality control and mentorship of junior communications team members.
Key performance areas are:
Brand communications:
- Supports communications manager with external brand communication deliverables as required.
- Manages the production of content for firm's external communication channels (website, social media, signage).
- Identifies and facilitates external opportunities for brand positioning (activations, sponsorships, partnerships).
- Engages with internal communication and project managers to source stories for brand positioning and storytelling.
- Provides media relations team with story leads and facilitating first engagement with internal content owner.
- Event management of brand activations.
- blishing of content on firm's external communication channels (social media, website, podcasts, vodcasts).
- Manages budgets, invoicing and payment of service providers.
Internal communications:
- Assists in producing internal communication collateral that is innovative and compliant with Deloitte language style, quality standards and corporate identity.
- Supports internal client services (HR, IT, Finance, Risk, CSR) and businesses with firmwide communication requirements.
- Management of centralized, internal channel content distribution and publishing (SMS, email, internal newsletters, intranet, digital signage, group presentations, Yammer).
- Manages database of centralized, internal distribution lists ensuring they are kept up to date, accurate, efficient and segmented.
- The successful candidate will use a combination of subject matter expertise in strategic communications both internally and externally as well as project management.
- Candidates with professional services or financial services experience with a passion for communications are ideal.
- The individual will need to liaise with senior stakeholders across the business.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Broad knowledge of communication tools, tactics, and standards
- Excellent command of the English language
- Strong written and editorial skills
- Creative with the ability to think out of box
- Advanced interpersonal skills—comfortable working with dynamic and virtual teams and high-level leadership
- Experience in developing and writing high profile communications for large-scale initiatives that engages and informs key stakeholder audiences across various communication vehicles (emails, newsletters, video, scripts, presentations, online content, social media etc.)
- Strong project management skills including experience coordinating and managing plans/schedules to meet deliverable dates
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (primarily Word and PowerPoint)
- Up-to-date with latest trends in communication techniques and approaches
Minimum Qualification:
- Must have at least a Diploma in a communications field.
- Preferably has a Bachelor’s Degree in a communications field.
Preferred:
- Demonstrate strong writing and editing skills
- Knowledge and understanding of the Deloitte communication standards, language style, and brand would be an asset
- Prior experience in “Big 4” Audit businesses or Financial Services
- ·Experience or working knowledge of graphic design and/or multimedia deliverables
