About the Program
The USAID Boresha Afya is a five year (1 October 2016 – 30 September 2021) program supported by the American People through United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The program is implemented by Deloitte Consulting Limited in 43 councils of Iringa, Njombe, Morogoro, Lindi, Mtwara and Ruvuma regions with its technical partners; Family Health International (FHI360), EngenderHealth and Management and Development for Health (MDH). The purpose of USAID Boresha Afya is to increase access to high quality, comprehensive, and integrated health services, in communities we serve especially women and youth. USAID Boresha Afya is set to create a dynamic, integrated platform for delivery of health services that emphasizes intensified coordination and collaboration between the government, health facilities and communities, towards achieving HIV epidemic control while integrating Family Planning (FP), Tuberculosis (TB), Maternal and Neo Natal Child Health (MNCH), Malaria care and Nutrition through innovative integration approaches at all levels and opportunities.
Job Description
Main purpose of the job
The Project Management and Communications Coordinator will be responsible for implementing strategies in the areas of external and internal communications and events of the program as well as a specific focus on media coverage and brand of the project.
This position reports directly to the Results Management Office Director.
What you will do/Specialized Competencies:
- In collaboration with the program management team, develop a communication protocol and strategy for all communications within the project and externally with the government, partners and donor;
- Oversee implementation of the project branding strategy and marking plan;
- Ensure that the project maintains high visibility in the media regionally, in the national and international media;
- Write and distribute press releases for project events as per Deloitte and USAID standards and requirements;
- Build and nurture public relations with program donors and implementing partners;
- Ensure that all program branding and communication policies are well documented and accessible to staff;
- Produce project content for both print and web including brochures and newsletters;
- Establish a quarterly internal project newsletter that informs staff of project activities, shares best practices, provides policy updates and celebrates successes ;
- Work with the program managers to document program successes and distribute them for replication through the national system;
- Develop promotional material to promote the program to stakeholders;
- Regularly update and maintain the project website;
- Ensure that all publications and videos are of high quality and are disseminated appropriately;
- Share and explore communication processes, good practices within the program and with all stakeholders;
- Support activities and prepare success stories;
- Develop creative and innovative branded program materials;
- Implementation of events to ensure they run seamlessly and achieve the agreed upon end objectives;
- Initiate both external and internal communications of the project to ensure visibility of the project;
- Assist management in tracking queries in the query tracking system and ensure that queries are responded to by the relevant parties in a timely manner;
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Media, Communication, Journalism or Public Relations;
- MBA is an added advantage;
- Minimum of five (5) years working experience in a large donor-funded health program;
- Experience with an International NGO or donor funded Program operating in the field of HIV/AIDS, TB, malaria or related public health organization will be an added advantage;
- Strong communication skills written and verbal

- Strong organizational skills with the demonstrated ability to priorities and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment;
- Advanced computer skills i.e Advanced Excel, MS Word, Power point, etc.
- Knowledge of USAID rules and regulations.
