Role Summary:
The Senior Manager, Clinical Procurement is responsible for driving sourcing and procurement activities supporting global clinical trials and development programs. This role partners closely with Clinical Operations, Clinical Development, Legal, and Finance to develop and execute sourcing strategies, negotiate complex contracts, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality services from external suppliers. The individual will drive value through cost optimization, supplier performance management, and risk mitigation while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and internal policies. This role requires strategic thinking, strong stakeholder engagement, and deep knowledge of clinical trial procurement.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Sourcing & Category Management (40%)
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for clinical trial services (e.g., CROs, central labs, biometrics, imaging, eCOA, specialty vendors)
- Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing events including RFI/RFP/RFQ processes
- Drive competitive bidding, cost benchmarking, and total cost of ownership analysis
- Establish and maintain category strategies aligned with clinical development plans
- Ownership and maintenance of assigned clinical subcategories/studies
Contracting & Negotiation (25%)
- Lead negotiation of Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Statements of Work (SOWs), and change orders (COs)
- Partner with Legal to ensure contract terms align with company risk tolerance and compliance requirements
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure contracts are fit for purpose to support the appropriate clinical categories
- Ensure timely execution of contracts to support clinical trial timelines within agreed cycle times
- Identify and mitigate contractual and commercial risks
Stakeholder Engagement & Program Support (20%)
- Serve as a trusted business partner to Clinical Operations and cross-functional teams
- Provide procurement guidance to study teams across the clinical asset lifecycle
- Support study startup timelines through proactive planning and supplier alignment
- Communicate sourcing strategies, timelines, and risks to key stakeholders
Supplier Management & Operational Excellence (15%)
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and supplier innovation
- Ensure adherence to procurement policies, procedures, and systems (e.g., P2P processes)
- Contribute to cross functional support of vendor governance
- Support audit and inspection readiness and maintain compliance with GxP requirements

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, or related field
- 8+ years of procurement/sourcing experience, including 4+ years supporting clinical trials in biotech/pharma
- Demonstrated experience negotiating complex clinical service agreements (e.g., CROs, central labs)
- Strong understanding of clinical development processes and vendor landscape
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage multiple priorities
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with procurement systems (e.g., Oracle Fusion, Ariba, or similar ERP/eSourcing tools)
Preferred Capabilities
- Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or equivalent)
- Experience supporting global, multi-phase clinical trials
- Knowledge of GxP, regulatory requirements, and clinical compliance standards
- Experience with category management and strategic sourcing methodologies
- Exposure to supplier risk management and third-party due diligence processes
- Strong analytical skills, including cost modeling and financial evaluation
- Prior experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented biotech environment

Additional Information
Deciphera is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary pay range for this role is $138,000-$190,000. Actual compensation packages will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to depth of experience, education, skillset, overall performance and/or location.
