Job Description

Salary: Up to £27,000

Location: Sheffield (fully office based) 

Working Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30/9:00 - 17:00/17:30

To support the implementation of the People strategy by advising and supporting the aligned members of the board and senior managers in the relevant areas of the business. To contribute to HR/People projects, initiatives and activity that contribute to overall company performance. To drive employee engagement and ensure the business is continually improving through effective people management. To ensure that relevant legislation is adhered to. To advise and advocate for fairness and consistency in all activities connected with the management of employees alongside the People Partner and wider team.

  • Be a trusted and approachable people advisor to the business, answering queries and providing information and solutions with the support of the HR/People team.
  • Implement and embed the company mission and values to drive performance.
  • Provide people related information and advice that reflect the organisation’s values.
  • Supporting managers on operational employee relations matters including grievances/complaints, conduct and capability related challenges.
  • Support and advise in performance management related processes.
  • Support and manage sickness/attendance challenges including long term sickness.
  • Advise on employment law with the support of senior members of the HR/People team where required, to minimise and manage business risk.
  • Implement people related change in relation business acquisitions and restructuring in conjunction with the wider HR/People team.
  • Work closely with the Talent Acquisition teams in relation to workforce planning, talent mapping and succession planning.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the People strategy to drive business performance and influence positive change across the business.
  • To use people data and HR software to identify patterns and implement recommendations in conjunction with the wider team.
  • Build honest, open and productive relationships with managers and leaders to influence people related decision making.
  • Review, and where necessary update, HR policies and procedures ensuring they are compliant with legislation and best practice with the support of the People Partner.
  • Ensure people related information, such as policies and procedures, is communicated and employees receive appropriate training.
  • Liaise with the payroll team and ensure that all pay related information is communicated accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that the HR system is accurate and up to date with the support of the People Administrator.
  • Work with the People Administrator to provide information to Payroll in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure all relevant documentation is maintained and accurate.
  • Support the People Administrator with creation and distribution of documentation.
  • Provide guidance and support in the interpretation of company policies and procedures.
  • Support and work closely with the wider HR/People team and the business to manage people related projects and achieve objectives.
  • Act as additional support and cover for the People Administrator as required and assist with development and training of junior HR team members.

Qualifications

  • CIPD Level 3 or equivalent experience.
  • In depth knowledge of employment law and its practical applications.
  • Experience of, or the aptitude to, work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to prioritise.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a project team.
  • Excellent oral, written and electronic communication skills.
