Job Description

DO & CO is seeking a passionate and skilled Carbon Accountant to join our growing sustainability team. The Carbon Accountant will be responsible for defining, quantifying, and analysing our company’s carbon footprint and playing a key role in driving our decarbonization efforts globally. The successful candidate will contribute to tracking carbon emissions, conducting sustainability assessments, and maintaining environmental documentation, supporting our commitment to sustainable business practices. 

  • Calculate and analyse the company’s carbon footprint and products emissions using internal tools and methodologies, ensuring accurate reporting. 
  • Support in the development and implementation of the company’s climate transition plan 2.0, to ensure that the plan supports the achievement of the Science Based Targets.  
  • Build models that forecast carbon emissions, considering operational changes and decarbonization strategies, and collaborate with other teams and external stakeholders. 
  • Develop and maintain processes for capturing emissions data, including emission factors, inventory management, and allocation of carbon emissions to relevant operations or clients. 
  • Contribute to our sustainability reporting and maintain documentation for environmental attributes, with a focus on efficiency and process automation. 
  • Stay UpToDate on the latest carbon accounting standards and sustainability best practices to inform the company’s ongoing environmental strategies. 
  • Support additional initiatives related to carbon reduction and environmental impact as directed by leadership. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Sustainability, Environmental Science, or a related field. 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in carbon accounting with a strong understanding of GHG protocol 
  • Knowledge of climate change, GHG impacts, FLAG emissions, supply and value chains, and renewable energy technologies. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (VBA is a plus), and data analysis. 
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build financial models and understand environmental policies and climate change impacts. 
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks. 
  • Interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a team and across departments. 
  • Fluency in English is required; German is a plus 
  • Experience with development of Environmental KPIs and Policies 
  • Understanding of Climate Change Scenarios
