Product Owner, Financial Crime
- Full-time
Job Description
Forward with Cuscal.
Ever tapped your phone to buy a morning coffee, or made a purchase from your favourite online store? Chances are, we’ve made it happen.
At Cuscal, we’ve been at the forefront of payments innovation for almost 60 years, enabling seamless, secure solutions that millions of Australians rely on every day. From launching Australia’s first ATM to being the first certified Australian fast payments Payer and Initiator in 2022, we’ve always pushed boundaries — and we’re not stopping now.
In December 2025, Cuscal expanded its scale and capability through the acquisition of Indue, bringing together two established Australian payments providers with deep roots in the mutual and broader financial services sector. The combination strengthens our B2B focus, broadens our payments and regulated data services offering, and increases our ability to support banks, fintechs and corporates with resilient, secure and future‑ready solutions
We are a listed public company (ASX:CCL) with full direct connectivity and production capability across all domestic payment systems. Whilst the major banks leverage this capability for their consumer and business clients, our B2B model focuses on enabling other banks, fintechs and corporates to deliver innovative and competitive payment and digital solutions to their clients and customers.
We are looking for a Product Owner to join our Product Team within our Financial Crime Domain
As payment methods evolve, so too do the efforts of criminals in their attempts to defraud businesses and consumers. We’re looking for a Product Owner to operationalise our Financial Crime domain’s product roadmap by shaping and prioritising a delivery backlog that addresses the most material fraud, scam and AML risks across Cuscal’s payment products. The Product Owner will convert emerging typologies and identified product vulnerabilities into clear, buildable outcomes that align day‑to‑day squad delivery with agreed roadmap priorities and approved investment intent.
About the Role:
Ensure user stories clearly communicate customer/stakeholder needs to the Scrum team; work with team to clarify stories as necessary
Own and prioritise the backlog of work for the team which could include client delivery, maintenance, defects, incidents, and continuous improvement using the relevant frameworks and guidelines.
Champion exceptional client experiences, understanding needs and pain points of users.
Partner with Product Manager/s to build new or enhance and optimise products in line with broader market needs and trends.
Collect client and stakeholder input and represent the ‘voice of the client’ at the team level.
Coach the squad and support them in breaking down the work into the right sized deliverables
Make strategic decisions to prioritise the work in the backlog, managing complex trade-offs and competing priorities.
About You:
4+ years in banking, fraud, and financial crimes with a preference for delivering SaaS and/or B2B products
Strong data analysis skills and process review capabilities.
2+ years of experience in product strategy, requirements intake (e.g business analyst), SME, process owner or customer facing role.
Knowledge of Agile development methodologies/tools and experience writing user stories
Understanding of the electronic payments industry is a plus but not mandatory.
Join us at the forefront of payments
