You'll also make an impact by:

  • Working closely with and report to Senior Group Corporate Counsel
  • Proactively initiating proposals for legal operations, cost reductions and identify appropriate benchmarks for efficiency.
  • Providing legal advice and guidance across a broad range of areas
  • Advising Cuscal on its legal rights and obligations and identify legal solutions to eliminate or mitigate legal and regulatory risk
  • Ensuring that the Chief Legal & People Office and legal team are informed of new or proposed legislation on regulatory activity that may affect Cuscal’s operations and have oversight as necessary to ensure regulatory changes are fully embedded in the business.
  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating vendor contracts and other commercial arrangements or safeguarding Cuscal’s interest.
  • Participating in developing company policies on legal issues.

Qualifications

What you'll bring

You’ve got an eye for detail with strong communication skills and a real knack for building relationships. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are driven to contribute to a dynamic team.

To succeed in this role, you’ll have:

  • 5+ years experience as a corporate or commercial lawyer.
  • Strong understanding of the financial services legislative and regulatory environment.
  • Working knowledge of financial services regulation, payments, AML, NCCP, Privacy and other relevant codes and laws.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulatory frameworks and apply them in a commercial context.
  • Exceptional communication skills and be detail orientated.
  • Ability to meet deliverables despite ambiguity, think quickly under pressure, and remain calm when the pace shifts upwards.

You’ll stand out from the crowd if you have some of the following:

  • Experience gained in a top‑tier private practice firm.
  • Previous in‑house legal experience.
  • Exposure to ADI or prudential regulatory requirements.
