Job Description

Our Wigan site have an exciting opportunity for a Driver Trainer to join their team on a full time permanent basis.

Salary: £40,000 per annum.

Working hours: Any 5 in 7 days. 

As a Diver Trainer you will deliver driver related training, evaluate and monitor the impact of training on Great Bear Drivers.

Key Duties of a Driver Trainer:

  • Deliver in house, periodic Driver CPC training.
  • Undertaking annual assessments on drivers.
  • Providing post incident training, guidance and advice.
  • Deliver training relating to drivers’ hours / tachographs / WTD rules and regulations to new starters and existing drivers.                                     
  • Provide new starter training / Inductions.
  • Report on (both verbal and written) the ability and performance of drivers following all driver training courses undertaken, using counselling and coaching techniques as required.
  • Keep and maintain up to date and accurate records of all driver training undertaken.
  • Liaise with the transport management team as necessary in order to maximise benefits for all training provided, ensuring that all training is relevant and in line with best practice.
  • Monitor the standard of drivers driving and provide information, advice and guidance to departments such as H&S, Transport and HR.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers’ hours.
  • HGV Driving License – full, clean C+E.
  • Attention to detail/ accuracy.
  • Able to work without direct supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills in order to deliver accurate information to trainees.
  • Effectively prioritise work load in order to meet set deadlines.
  • A good standard of computer literacy, particularly MS Office applications.
  • Qualified to Advanced driving level would be desirable.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
