Are you looking for your next step in Transport? Stobart have an exciting opportunity within their retail sector for a Transport Team Manager to oversee the night operation at Bridgwater for a major customer. 

You will direct, coordinate and + plan activities for the operation whilst complying with legal responsibilities and meeting customer demand at all times.  We are looking for someone to motivate and drive the team forward; this is the perfect opening for someone looking for a step into management.

Main Responsibilities & Objectives: 

• To support the management of a fleet of drivers and transport staff ensuring that they work within both legal and company compliance guidelines.
• To provide a store network with a first class service
• To ensure operational targets are met on a weekly and monthly basis through effective use of the customers Integrated Transport Management Systems
• To brief / de brief drivers at the start and end of every shift communicating planned requirements providing information on performance, company news and procedures.
• Proactively encourage a positive and constructive relationship on site with the union and union representatives.
• Increase communication with stores
• Ensure department complies with Road Traffic Act
• Ensure drivers comply with health and safety regulations
• Proactively motivate the transport team by providing guidance and encouragement
• Undertake such duties as may be reasonably required for the effective operation of the function and department

What kind of person are we looking for?

• Experience of working within a transport/FMCG environment.
• Knowledge of transport legislation.
• Knowledge of driver management softwares
• Experience of supervising / managing a team, encouraging motivation and driving performance.
• Experience of disciplinary / grievance procedures.
• Able to manage conflict and problem solve
• Ability to work on your own initiative, working to strict deadlines and customer focused
• The depot operates 24/7 therefore it is essential that you are flexible in your approach to work.
