Job Description

Due to continued growth, we are now seeking an Operations Manager to join our team at York. Within this role, you will act as second in command for the Regional Operations Director. This is an exciting time to join the team in York as they are currently going through positive changes including large investments and the opportunity to be involved in several new projects

To be successful in this role you must have a previous manufacturing and operations experience with a can-do attitude; and a willingness to mentor, grow and develop your members of staff. As this is a new role within the business area, this is a real chance to make the role your own and have a large influence in positive changes. Knowledge in Health & Safety and Continuous Improvement are key in order to thrive in this position.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

Key Duties of a Operations Manager:

  • To provide leadership for the site production teams
  • Lead the implementation of the Operational Strategy 
  • Ensure compliance to Company and Legal requirements of H&S and Quality
  • Liaise with other key departments regarding production plan
  • Effectively plan and manage labour resourcing against production plan to meet customer requirements
  • Ensure production process efficiency targets are communicated, owned, targeted and delivered. e.g. labour and waste
  • Attend customer review meetings when required
  • Ensure that labour efficiency targets are met
  • Liaise with internal departments (Quality, Production, Warehousing etc.) providing effective communication of production requirement
  • Fully utilise systems available to drive Continuous Improvement in all areas of the Operations
  • Conduct risk assessments
  • Coach, support and mentor colleagues within the department and support the development of an empowering  culture

Qualifications

 

  • Experience of working successfully within a FMCG Manufacturing environment.
  • NEBOSH
  • IOSH
  • Knowledge of LEAN/Continuous Improvement (desirable)
  • Level 3 Health & Safety qualification or above
  • Level 3 Food Safety qualification or above
  • Average Weight Legislation knowledge
  • NVQ Level 3 Management (Desirable).
