Position Overview
Crown is seeking a highly experienced Senior Air Traffic Control Radar System Installation & Activation Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of radar installation and activation projects across National Airspace System (NAS) environments.
This role is responsible for leading complex installation programs involving radar systems, ensuring installations are executed in accordance with engineering specifications, safety standards, contract requirements, and project timelines. The Senior Installation & Activation Manager will coordinate cross-functional teams including installers, system optimizers, engineering technicians, vendors, and customer stakeholders.
The Senior Manager will interface directly with customers, prime contractors, and internal program control teams to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards.
This role may require up to 30% travel and supports a remote work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Program Leadership
• Develop strategies for installation and activation programs including timeline planning, resource allocation, and risk mitigation
• Coordinate with Program Control, the Prime Contractor, and customers regarding upcoming projects
• Support long-term planning for installation programs across National Airspace System environments
Team Leadership & Oversight
• Lead and mentor cross-functional teams of installation supervisors, technicians, and activation specialists
• Manage team performance, professional development, and compliance
• Coordinate installation teams and engineering resources to ensure successful project execution
Project Execution & Delivery
• Ensure timely and on-budget delivery of complex installations including site surveys, implementation planning, site preparation, installation, optimization, training, site acceptance, close-out, maintenance, and support
• Coordinate and conduct Site Readiness Meetings with customers
• Provide schedule updates to Program Control Specialists and Program Administrators
• Manage project execution within fixed-price contract environments
Quality, Safety & Compliance
• Enforce adherence to safety regulations, technical specifications, contract requirements, and quality assurance protocols
• Conduct site inspections to verify compliance and operational readiness
• Ensure installations across NAS environments meet federal safety and technical standards
Performance Optimization & Reporting
• Analyze installation and activation performance data to identify improvement opportunities and cost efficiencies
• Prepare regular reports including project status, cost curves, milestone progress, risk exposure, and earned value metrics
Budget & Resource Oversight
• Support management of departmental budgets
• Forecast staffing needs and resource allocation across multiple projects
• Optimize resource utilization across installation programs
Required Technical Experience
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in radar signal processing, digital and analog circuits, microprocessors, and antenna performance for primary and secondary radar systems
• Experience installing and/or maintaining digital Primary Airport Surveillance Radar (DASR) systems including FAA ASR-9 and ASR-11 models
• Experience with FAA Secondary Radar Systems such as ATCBI-6 / Mode-S or comparable military radar systems
• Ability to utilize diagnostic tools and software related to radar systems
• Understanding of electronic principles including radar signal processing, digital and analog circuits, microprocessors, and radar computer systems
• Knowledge of radar installation processes and troubleshooting methodologies

Preferred Certifications & Technical Tools
Experience with the following is highly valued:
• Project Management Professional (PMP)
• Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)
• Professional Engineer (PE) or relevant industry certifications
• Microsoft Project
• Project management tools and installation technologies used in radar system deployments
Minimum Required Qualifications
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in installation, project management, or engineering roles
• Experience managing complex projects within fixed-price contract environments
• Strong organizational, communication, and technical leadership skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Project, and Outlook
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Schedule & Travel
This role may require up to 30% travel depending on project requirements.
This position supports a remote work environment.
Compensation
Salary Range (Senior Level):
$124,800 – $135,200 annually
($60.00 – $65.00 hourly equivalent)
Compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity considerations.
Crown complies with all applicable state and local pay transparency laws. The listed compensation range represents the good faith salary range for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, geographic considerations, and business needs.
