Base pay starts at $28.00 per hour

SHIFT: Full-Time, Second Shift

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Possesses a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License to transfer product between company warehouses. Ensures inventory control through correct placement of product within the warehouses. Ensures safety of people and materials in all locations by following Company guidelines on safe driving, operation of motorized equipment, lifting, and stacking. Performs all functions in accordance with safety policies and procedures to maintain a quality product during transit and storage.

  • Transfers product from manufacturing facility to the distribution center in a safe and responsible manner
  • Inspects truck on a daily basis for defects and reports defects or potential safety issues to supervisor and/or Safety Manager
  • Maintain safe work practices and equipment per training and OSHA guidelines with emphasis on technique, motorized equipment, and safe operation of tools. Work toward 100% participation in safety team meetings for safety training to promote a safer work environment. Participate in the continuous improvement efforts regarding housekeeping and workplace organization
  • Operate motorized equipment responsibly and safely at all times
  • Obey all local, state, federal, and DOT regulations related to your CDL licensing. Report any off duty violations using Violation Report Form
  • Be proficient and efficient operating a tractor and trailer
    • Shuttling product between facilities
    • Backing in trailers
    • Ensuring load is stable before transporting
    • Maintain and monitor trailers for the loading schedule
  • Maintain trailer lots and docks in an orderly manner
  • Perform warehouse functions when driving duties are fulfilled
  • Complete all paperwork accurately and timely including safety check sheets
  • Plan your work and be flexible with breaks and lunch times. Observe the company break policy
  • Be a team player in all areas seeking facility excellence instead of personal or shift excellence. Get involved with team activities where applicable
  • Operate motorized equipment (forklift and multi-directional equipment) safely, efficiently, and accurately
  • Unloads and correctly places transferred products in warehouse
  • Stage product in preparation for shipment
  • Change batteries and gas tanks on forklifts and report maintenance needs of motorized equipment to supervisor and /or manger
  • At times you will be required to perform basic duties of a Warehouse Associate 3, such as setting up materials for crate building, staging product in preparation for shipment, correctly filling orders from inventory, etc
  • Demonstrate proficiency with warehouse paperwork and bills of lading
  • Capable of processing inventory control and cycle counts
  • Basic use in the functions of JD Edwards
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Attend scheduled staff meetings with the Distribution Manager, if required
  • Maintain an accurate timecard daily
  • Actively participate in all plant safety programs, depending on location

Mental/Physical/Visual Demands: Must have good eye/hand coordination, excellent manual dexterity including a skill to use hand and electrical tools, and an ability to read and comprehend numbers. Must be able to lift 86 lbs. individually and lift 87 to 100 lbs. with assistance. Must be detailed oriented, possess good communication skills, and interact well with others. Specific vision abilities include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the associate may work in outside weather conditions. Warehouse environment with exposure to equipment noise, temperature extremes, and dust. Position requires some lifting, twisting and bending.

Equipment/Tools Used: Must be able to safely drive a tractor trailer/flatbed. Must be able to operate a multi-directional forklift safely. Safety glasses and ear plugs must be utilized as instructed. Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver’s License and a Company motorized equipment license.

Safety: Safe work performance is required from each Associate at all times. Perform all duties and responsibilities in a safe manner in accordance with applicable Health and Safety Manuals. Required to wear or use personal protective equipment as applicable and to immediately report unsafe working conditions.

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate/G.E.D.
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License
  • Must be able to safely drive truck and operate motorized equipment trucks
  • 2 years commercial truck driving experience (equivalent Military DD214 experience is acceptable)
  • Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving
  • Ability to work independently or with a team
  • Ability to plan and manage time efficiently
  • Ability to work safely throughout the day and prevent unsafe conditions
  • Must be willing to unload and load
  • Forklift certified (in house training program available)
