Job Description
Position Mission
The Head of Production is responsible for leading and optimizing all manufacturing operations to ensure the achievement of business objectives related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and profitability. This position provides strategic and operational leadership for the production organization, ensuring the efficient utilization of people, equipment, materials, and manufacturing capacity while consistently meeting internal and external customer expectations.
The role drives operational excellence through the development and execution of production strategies, continuous improvement initiatives, capital investment projects, and workforce development programs. The Head of Production fosters a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement, ensuring sustainable business growth, operational competitiveness, and world-class manufacturing performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and coordinate all production activities to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.
- Translate the plant's production strategy into actionable plans and drive flawless execution across all manufacturing areas.
- Develop and execute operational plans related to capacity expansion, productivity improvement, workforce planning, and resource optimization.
- Ensure achievement of production, quality, delivery, cost, inventory, and productivity targets while maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Drive operational excellence through the implementation of lean manufacturing, CBS methodologies, productivity initiatives, and best practices.
- Lead continuous improvement programs focused on waste elimination, process stability, quality enhancement, and cost reduction.
- Identify, justify, prioritize, and manage capital investments, automation initiatives, and manufacturing technology upgrades.
- Collaborate with Business Area , Sector, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Finance teams to support business objectives.
- Lead and participate in global, regional, and local cross-functional projects to improve manufacturing performance and competitiveness.
- Establish performance metrics and monitor KPIs to ensure sustainable operational improvements.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead, coach, develop, and engage production teams, promoting a high-performance culture and ensuring succession planning for key positions.
- Foster innovation and benchmark manufacturing best practices to continuously improve operational effectiveness.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE* (Minimum)
Education / Certification
▪ Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Professional Experience
(Variety of Functions, Business Exposure, General Management Experience)
▪ Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in manufacturing and production operations.
▪ Cross-functional experience in Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Continuous Improvement, or Continental Business System (CBS) is preferred.
Project and/or Process Experience
▪ Strong experience in rubber, plastics, or industrial manufacturing processes.
▪ Proven track record in process optimization, productivity improvement, and operational excellence initiatives.
Leadership Experience
▪ Minimum 5 years of leadership experience with direct responsibility for people, performance, and operational results.
▪ Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams in a manufacturing environment.
Intercultural / International Experience
▪ Experience collaborating with international teams and stakeholders in a global manufacturing environment.
▪ Fluency in both Spanish and English is mandatory.
▪ Ability to work effectively across cultures and organizational boundaries.
