Turnaround Coordinator - Electrical
- Full-time
- Department: Generation & Trading
Company Description
Whakatakoto te tūāpapa | Laying the foundation
At Contact Energy, we’re here to power Aotearoa’s future, making energy more sustainable, reliable, and better for our customers and communities. Our Geothermal Turnaround team plays a critical role in this, planning and delivering essential maintenance that keeps our stations running safely and efficiently when it matters most.
From Wairakei and across our geothermal fleet, this team works at the heart of our operations, bringing together expertise, planning, and precision execution to ensure our assets perform at their best and continue delivering renewable energy for New Zealand.
Job Description
Te āhua o te tūranga | The nature of the role
This is an opportunity to step into a hands-on, high-impact role as a Turnaround Coordinator based at Wairakei, where you’ll play a key part in planning and delivering critical maintenance programmes across our generation assets. You’ll be right in the middle of the action, working closely with site teams, contractors, and leaders to ensure everything is ready to go before a turnaround begins, and that it runs safely, efficiently, and to plan.
From scoping work and coordinating resources through to supporting execution and close-out in SAP, you’ll help keep everything moving. You’ll lead pre-work preparation, support teams through the delivery phase, and ensure everything wraps up cleanly and compliantly. It’s a role that blends planning, coordination, and problem solving, where your ability to keep people aligned and focused will make all the difference.
Qualifications
Ko wai koe | About you
You’re someone who enjoys being on the ground, solving problems, and bringing structure to complex work. You might come from an electrical or operational background, and you understand what it takes to deliver maintenance work safely and effectively in a live environment.
We’d love to see:
- A relevant trade, diploma, or equivalent experience in a maintenance discipline, this is a must-have
- Experience in maintenance, turnaround environments, or similar project-based work, also a must-have
- Confidence working with systems like SAP or similar, nice-to-have but highly valued
- Experience supervising teams or contractors, helpful but not essential if you’ve led work informally
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships across teams
Most importantly, you bring a can-do attitude, sound judgement, and a focus on safety and quality. If you’re someone who takes pride in your work, looks for continuous improvement, and enjoys working alongside others to get the job done, you’ll fit right in, even if you don’t tick every box.
