Business Support Coordinator
- Full-time
- Department: Generation & Trading
Company Description
Whakatakoto te tūāpapa | Laying the foundation
At Contact Energy, our purpose is to improve the lives of New Zealanders by leading the way in renewable energy. For decades, we’ve been harnessing the natural power of Aotearoa, investing in innovation, sustainability, and the people who make it all happen. We’re proud of our culture, one that values care for people, collaboration, and doing the right thing, every day.
Our Wairakei geothermal site in Taupō is a cornerstone of our generation portfolio and a place where energy, people, and community come together. It’s a busy, welcoming hub supporting our Generation and Trading teams, and it plays a vital role in keeping the lights on across the motu. This is a site with history, heart, and a strong sense of whanaungatanga.
Job Description
Te āhua o te tūranga | The nature of the role
This Business Support Coordinator role is all about being the friendly face and steady hand that keeps our Wairakei site running smoothly. Based at reception during standard weekday hours, you’ll be the first point of contact for employees, contractors, and visitors, setting the tone with a warm welcome and outstanding service. You’ll sit at the heart of the site, supporting day to day operations and helping people feel looked after from the moment they arrive.
No two days will look the same. You’ll be juggling administration, site security, travel bookings, events, inductions, and onboarding support, all while keeping things organised and flowing behind the scenes. You’ll work closely with our Support team and wider Generation and Trading whānau, learning the business from the ground up and making a real difference through the mahi you do. If you enjoy variety, people interaction, and being the go to person who makes things happen, this role will feel right at home.
Qualifications
Ko wai koe | About you
You’re someone who genuinely enjoys helping others and takes pride in being reliable, organised, and professional. You bring energy and positivity to your work, you’re calm under pressure, and you’re great at switching gears when priorities change. People feel comfortable approaching you, and you have a natural way of making others feel welcome and valued.
Ideally, you’ll bring solid administration experience, strong customer service skills, and confidence working with systems and technology. Experience with SAP, security systems, or corporate environments is great to have, but not essential, we’re happy to provide training. What really matters is your ability to multitask, manage a busy workload, handle confidential information with care, and communicate clearly with people at all levels.
If you’re detail focused, system savvy, and motivated by continuous improvement, you’ll thrive here. Even if you don’t tick every box, but you’re keen to learn, love working with people, and want to grow your career in a supportive and values led organisation, we’d still love to hear from you. Haere mai, this could be your next great step.
