Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Investment Assocaite will actively support the Head of Real Estate in the management of the real estate portfolio, encompassing private and public market. You will support the evolution, development and implementation of the real estate investment strategy, including support on sourcing, analysis and evaluation of real estate investment opportunities in funds, co-investments, direct investments and public markets, as well as managing, monitoring and reporting on existing investment to key stakeholders.

The role offers the opportunity to work within a relatively small team of 15 people within the Investment Office and will additionally facilitate exposure across multiple asset classes. The successful candidate will work closely with internal investment and operations professionals and liaise closely with external consultants, advisors and managers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the management of existing assets within the Real Estate Portfolio. Attend manager meetings and asset tours and ensure assets are responsibly managed to maximise overall performance.  Review and oversee execution of business plans, as well as support on hold/sell analysis for existing assets.
  • Analyse portfolio. Work with Head of Real Estate to ensure cash flow modelling is systematically undertaken across and aggregated at portfolio level. Run sensitivity, stress and scenario analysis.
  • Analyse new investment opportunities. Undertake initial screening of viable alternatives and support in the due diligence process, analysis and recommendation for new investment proposals. Support on execution of investment. Build personal network of manager and agent relationships to support the monitoring of the universe of opportunities. Overall responsibility for maintenance of Real Estate pipeline tracking.
  • Review market research and pricing within real estate. Provide value-added and actionable insights. Support the development of market pricing tracker and relative value measure to enable assessment of real estate sub sectors.
  • Monitor existing investments, including gathering data, analyzing and reporting. Draft and produce reporting as required across the real estate assets and investment portfolio as a whole.
  • Manage counterparties, including maintaining relationships and coordinating with external and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in an investment management role. Ideally experience focused on analysing / investing in real estate.
  • Quantitative mindset to be able to measure the value of decisions, with ability to build, question and maintain complex financial models.
  • A strong grasp of financial analysis tools (such as Excel, Argus), reporting software (e.g. Burgiss / eVestment).
  • Preference given to those with programming abilities (Python, R).
  • A proactive, enthusiastic and hands-on approach.
  • Intellectual curiosity.
  • A strong academic background.
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a high performing team.
