Job Description
The Accountant will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting and financial activities of the organisation. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, preparing financial reports, assisting with reconciliations, and ensuring that accounting activities are carried out accurately and within established deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and financial documentation.
- Record and process daily financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, payments, and journals.
- Prepare and process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Perform bank, supplier, customer, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Assist with monthly and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare regular financial reports, schedules, and accounting statements.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue payments.
- Verify invoices and supporting documents before processing payments.
- Assist with cash flow monitoring and payment preparation.
- Maintain proper filing and organisation of accounting documents and records.
- Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis when required.
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting procedures and relevant statutory requirements.
- Assist with VAT, tax, and other statutory reporting requirements.
- Liaise with suppliers, customers, banks, auditors, and other relevant stakeholders when required.
- Provide supporting documentation and information during internal and external audits.
- Identify and report discrepancies or accounting issues and assist in resolving them.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and business information.
- Perform any other accounting-related duties assigned by the Finance Manager or Chief Accountant.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in an accounting or finance role.
- Good understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Good numerical and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial information.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
