Job Description
Responsibilities and duties for this position shall include, but not be limited to, the following areas and activities. The holder of this position may, at any time, be called to perform any other cognate duties at the request of management.
- Ensure that standards of excellence in customer service are maintained and regularly updated.
- Deal with all guests’ queries and complaints swiftly and efficiently.
- Supervise the activities of all Public Area staff to ensure clean and well-maintained lobbies, corridors and service areas according to the standards required by the Constance Hotels.
- Check all areas on section allocated, toilets and lounges to ensure it has been cleaned, laid out, supplied and presented to the Hotel’s required standard.
- Liaise promptly with office coordinator and reception regarding any room discrepancies and rooms ready for re-letting.
- Be responsible for checking that staff has satisfactorily completed work assigned to them by completing their worksheet before going off duty.
- Be responsible for checking staff has cleared the corridor of all equipment and that it is stored neatly and tidily in service areas.
- Submit a hand-over report to the evening Housekeeping daily before going off duty.
- Participate in and carry out various housekeeping inventories.
- Pay special attention to any additional cleaning and maintenance.
- Be responsible for all keys in their possession.
- Hand over and report lost property.
- Attend and provide input in the Housekeeping meetings, act on any special instruction and pass on any relevant information.
- Checking of public areas and back of the house areas under Housekeeping care.
- Maintenance of facilities
- Ensure that any breakdown of equipment and services are immediately reported and dealt with swiftly and efficiently.
- Ensure that in the context of the operations, all standards of management for the environment and its related legislation are strictly observed.
- Ensure all equipment is cleaned, well maintained and in proper functional order.
- Through proper communication ensure that staff members have all the information they require in order to provide excellent customer service at all times.
- Ensure that all sections have the appropriate staffing levels for efficient operations while achieving set employee productivity targets.
- Constantly monitor staff morale to ensure that the personnel is kept in an appropriate state of discipline, motivation and commitment to the objectives of the organization at all times.
- Identify and ensure that the personnel receive appropriate and adequate training in order to achieve the desirable level of performance in the execution of their duties.
- Regularly appraise his immediate collaborators in order to feedback to them essential information to enable them to constantly improve their performance.
- Enforce adherence of employees to the dress, appearance and conduct codes established by the hotel.
- Monitor the progress of new and existing staff to keep the training Housekeeper informed, in order to recommend training or additional training.
- Report any disciplinary and grievance matters to the Executive Housekeeper.
- Ensure and maintain that Health and Safety practices are followed at all times.
- Promote Energy efficiency and environment and identify improvement to support the Green Globe Policy.
- Report anything that may be considered a Health & Safety hazard.
- Report anything or anyone suspicious to the Duty Manager or Night manager immediately, during evening or nightshift.
- Assist with the evacuation of staff and guests to respective Fire Zones in case of fire or bomb alert.
- Maintain adequate stock levels within Housekeeping stores and issuing as needed.
- Control and requisition guest supplies, cleaning materials and linen necessary for daily operations.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years experience in the hospitality industry on a similar position
- SC holder OR equivalent
- National Certificate Level 3
- Fluent in English and French, both verbal and written.
