Job Description
Constance Lemuria, a luxury resort in the beautiful Seychelles, is seeking a dedicated and efficient Kitchen Steward to join our culinary team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our kitchen facilities, ensuring smooth operations and supporting our commitment to excellence in food service.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas according to health and safety standards
- Operate and maintain dishwashing machines, ensuring proper cleaning of all dishes, glassware, and cutlery
- Assist in the organization and storage of kitchen supplies and equipment
- Support kitchen staff by restocking clean items and maintaining a tidy work environment
- Dispose of waste in compliance with health and safety regulations
- Assist with basic food prep tasks as needed
- Maintain cleanliness of floors, walls, and other kitchen areas
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor
- Adhere to all food safety and hygiene protocols
- Collaborate with kitchen team members to ensure efficient operations during peak hours
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience as a kitchen steward or in a similar role preferred
- Knowledge of kitchen sanitation and safety procedures
- Ability to operate dishwashing equipment efficiently
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively
- Basic understanding of kitchen operations and food service industry
- Food safety certification (e.g., ServSafe) preferred
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Ability to thrive in a tropical climate and adapt to local working conditions
- Familiarity with luxury hospitality standards is a plus
