Job Description

Constance Ephelia, a luxurious resort in the Seychelles, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Horticulture Manager to oversee our stunning tropical gardens and landscapes. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the natural beauty of our resort, ensuring an unforgettable experience for our guests.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive landscaping and gardening plans for the resort
  • Manage and maintain the diverse range of tropical plants and trees across the property
  • Oversee the design and installation of new garden areas and landscape features
  • Implement effective pest and disease management strategies
  • Manage irrigation systems to ensure optimal water usage and plant health
  • Lead and mentor a team of gardeners and landscaping staff
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations
  • Collaborate with other departments to align horticultural activities with overall resort objectives
  • Implement sustainable and environmentally friendly gardening practices
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all horticultural operations
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and innovations in tropical horticulture and landscaping

Qualifications

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Horticulture or Agronomy/ Botany, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in horticulture management or as an Agronomist, preferably in a tropical resort setting
  • Extensive knowledge of tropical plant species and cultivation techniques
  • Proven expertise in landscape design and maintenance
  • Strong skills in pest and disease management for tropical plants
  • Experience in managing irrigation systems and water conservation techniques
  • Demonstrated ability in budget management and cost control
  • Excellent team leadership and management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in horticultural software and Microsoft Office suite
  • Relevant horticultural certifications (e.g., RHS certifications) are highly desirable
  • In-depth understanding of sustainable gardening practices and environmental conservation in island ecosystems
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, multicultural environment
  • Willingness to reside in the Seychelles and adapt to island living
