Job Description

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Commis to join our culinary team at the luxurious Constance Halaveli in the Maldives. As a Commis, you will play a vital role in supporting our kitchen operations and delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests.

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of various dishes, following recipes and chef instructions
  • Maintain a clean and organised workstation, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
  • Support senior chefs in mise en place activities and daily kitchen operations
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely and high-quality food production
  • Assist in the proper storage and rotation of food items to minimise waste
  • Participate in menu planning and development, offering creative input when appropriate
  • Help with inventory management and stock rotation
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen equipment and utensils
  • Adapt to changing priorities and work efficiently during peak service times
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment in the kitchen

Qualifications

  • Basic culinary skills and knowledge of various cooking techniques
  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Excellent time keeping and organisational skills
  • Strong teamwork and communication abilities
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Food safety certification preferred
  • Previous kitchen or food service experience is a plus
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 11 kg
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Basic knowledge of Maldivian cuisine is advantageous
  • Ability to adapt to and work comfortably in a tropical climate
  • Passion for culinary arts and commitment to delivering high-quality dishes
  • Detail-oriented approach to food preparation and presentation
