Job Description

The School of Professional Studies M.S. in Technology Management program is seeking industry professionals to design and teach the summer 2025 course The Technology Edge. These individuals will serve as part-time Lecturers.

This class is a journey into the “fat edge” of technological innovations that could transform our economy and society over the coming years. It will tackle big questions: How do innovations redefine jobs and industries? What is the real impact of these changes from the C-suite to citizens?

This course is about igniting a passion for change, a realization of its risks, and equipping students to lead with vision and principle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead in-person class lectures, instructional activities, and classroom discussion
  • Evaluate student work and grade assignments
  • Monitor student concerns and inquiries and be the first point of contact for student questions
  • Hold weekly office hours
  • Part‐time Lecturers who are new to SPS must complete Canvas training (online learning management system)

Qualifications

Columbia University SPS operates under a scholar-practitioner faculty model, which enables students to learn from faculty that have outstanding academic training as well as a record of accomplishment as practitioners in an applied industry setting.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree from an accredited institution
  • 10+ years of professional experience
  • University teaching experience preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Future-oriented  thought leadership as reflected by blogging/writing and public speaking
  • 10+ years hands-on experience in user-centered, product-driven, Agile/Lean/XP processes
  • Thought leadership as reflected by blogging/writing and public speaking
  • Board-level advisory and consultative experience
  • Experience with digital transformation, especially in regulated industries
  • Fluency with contemporary ethical debates related to technology

Additional Information

Salary: $15,450 per semester-length course teaching.
