Job Description

Unique opportunity to work on large planning projects across the UK from an Edinburgh base. The Colliers Planning Team offer a UK wide planning consultancy advice to clients. We are experienced and well respected in the planning market. We undertake strategic projects throughout the UK- including current work on three new garden villages. We are looking to recruit a skilled and enthusiastic Senior Planner to be part of our team. This will mean working on range of projects in England & Scotland, across all scales and sectors, for an equally diverse client base.  

To undertake professionally fulfilling work, to offer a first class service to clients and to contribute to fee income for the Planning team. To develop client relationships and business development opportunities for the team. To also assist and work with/alongside surveyor colleagues based across the UK at Colliers.

Qualifications

Professional Work:

  • To conduct professional work for clients and to ensure that all relevant reporting requirements are met to agreed deadlines an in accordance with RTPI compliance standards.
  • To ensure that work is conducted within Colliers Best Practice standards.
  • Ensure work is undertaken timeously for clients and liaise appropriately with senior members of staff concerning scope/content.
  • Travel with clients/colleagues to site visits and meetings throughout the UK, e.g. London, Manchester etc.
  • Assist graduates and junior members of staff with their professional work.

Client Contact:

  • To maintain contact with clients and Client Co-ordinators so that the client relationship can be managed effectively and efficiently.

Contribution to Financial Targets:

  • To undertake professional planning work securing fee income to help meet Planning team and Business Group targets.
  • |Generate fee income to meet a mutually agreed personal fee target (agreed with Director at annual appraisal), which contributes towards the team’s overall annual target.
  • To provide new ideas to assist clients and which will result in new/expanded sources of professional fee income.

Business Development:

  • To create a network of internal relationships at Colliers across UK offices
  • To seek opportunities to develop new business including cross-selling and identification of new business.
  • To demonstrate that new business leads can result in new instructions.

Job Related:

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills to liaise with clients and colleagues alike and impart sound planning consultancy advice in an assured manner
  • Must possess excellent organisation and time management skills to meet agreed reporting targets
  • Demonstrates sound planning knowledge of English and Scottish planning systems and have an attention for detail
  • Must possess sound IT skills, particularly MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Microsoft Teams)
  • Must be able to work effectively as part of the Planning team
  • Must possess very good written and verbal communication skills
  • Should possess a relevant qualification and be a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute or Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors
  • Possess or is in the process of obtaining a driving licence
