Job Description

The analytics engineer is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of business intelligence solutions. This role collaborates with various business units to gather reporting requirements and translate them into Business Intelligence solutions. A successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills and be proficient in using the full suite of Power BI tools to deliver optimised data model and compelling, data-driven insights.

Key responsibilities

  • Create and maintain dynamic, visually compelling dashboards and reports using Power BI. Work closely with the business to understand requirements and workshop solutions
  • Develop and optimize robust data models to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of reporting solutions.
  • Work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to understand business requirements for data analysis and visualization.
  • Connect to, integrate, and transform data from multiple sources (e.g., SQL databases, Excel, BigQuery) using Power Query.
  • Use Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) to build advanced calculations, measures, and calculated columns for in-depth data analysis.
  • Ensure high performance of reports and dashboards by optimizing queries and data models.
  • Implement data security best practices, including row-level security, to ensure data privacy and compliance.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for all developed BI solutions and provide training and support to end-users.
  • Assist in driving adoption and engagement with reporting tools. Collect and act on feedback to ensure ongoing improvement and relevance of data analytics

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in Power BI, including Power BI Desktop, Power Query, Power Pivot, and Power BI Service.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL for data manipulation and querying databases. Experience developing reports and dashboards from Bigquery, supporting data-driven decision making is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in complex business environments, balancing competing priorities and managing stakeholder expectations across multiple teams. Strong facilitation, influencing, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business outcomes.
  • Demonstrates curiosity and a proactive approach to learning new technologies, tools, and business domains. Embraces challenges, seeks feedback, adapts to changing priorities, and continuously develops skills to improve outcomes and deliver greater value to the business.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications in PowerBI or BigQuery are a plus.
