Job Description

DELIVERY OWNERSHIP 

  • Own squad delivery, including planning, estimation, risk and issue management, stakeholder engagement, releases, operations, and ongoing product maintenance. 
  • Align the product roadmap, technical runway, and available capacity. 
  • Set realistic commitments, anticipate risks and dependencies, remove blockers and drive recovery actions. 
  • Ensure every release is secure, tested, supportable and operationally ready; escalate early with options. 
  • Communicate with key stockholders about deliveries, issues and risks. Be a leader within the transformation program (called Everest), highlight dependencies and tackle them when necessary. 

FUNCTIONAL AND TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP

  • Work with Product Owners, analysts and architects to clarify needs, challenge gaps and shape deliverable requirements. 
  • Understand business processes, existing applications, code, data flows and integrations to define pragmatic designs and transition paths. 
  • Guide architecture and implementation choices, including non-functional requirements, observability and technical debt trade-offs. 
  • Conduct peer reviews to improve quality and help engineers develop. 
  • Explore relevant technologies, share findings, and build support among peers. 

ENGINEERING QUALITY AND OPERATIONS

  • Oversee design and code reviews, CI/CD quality gates, secure-by-design practices and a robust Definition of Done. 
  • Drive durable resolution of complex incidents through root-cause analysis and corrective actions. 
  • Maintain clear architecture decisions and prioritise technical debt based on value, risk, and capacity. 

TEAM AND LOCAL LEADERSHIP 

  • Lead developers day to day, mentor engineers and strengthen knowledge sharing across the BDC community. 
  • Use Agile practices to improve flow and decision-making, and participate in SAFe ceremonies with other delivery teams. 
  • Protect delivery focus, coordinate distributed contributors and represent BI Technology locally in Romania. 
  • Build strong KPI to track progress (Velocity, predictability, software quality, production stability, production defect reduction) 
  • Grow your talents – as a manager hire key talents which will complement your team, coach and nurture team members 

Qualifications

You combine the judgement of a senior engineer with the ownership mindset of a delivery leader. 

  • 8+ years in software engineering, solution architecture, technical leadership or technology delivery. 
  • Proven ownership of complex digital products or platforms and experience leading distributed, cross-functional teams. 
  • Strong Java / Angular full-stack understanding across applications, APIs, integration, data, infrastructure, security and front-end concerns. 
  • Experience modernizing legacy platforms through phased migration or coexistence strategies. 
  • Practical knowledge of API-led and event-driven integration, data-intensive applications, CI/CD, containers and cloud or hybrid environments. 
  • Strong appetite and interest for Business Information functionally. A strong analytical capability to dig into business processes and data. 
  • Ability to manage delivery risk, quality gates and production readiness in a regulated environment. 
  • Fluent English and confidence communicating with engineering, business and executive stakeholders. 
  • You will participate in the Engineering platform committee. We expect you to influence the technical decisions of the department and be a leader in defining the company's tech strategy. 

TECHNICAL LANDSCAPE 

  • Architecture: REST or gRPC APIs, microservices, event-driven patterns, integration, orchestration, UML and C4. 
  • Engineering: GitLab CI, Jenkins or equivalent; Docker, Kubernetes, Helm; API gateways; cloud and infrastructure fundamentals, Kafka, RabbitMQ 
  • Data and AI: Data pipelines, governance and data-centric designs; AI/ML and agentic workloads are an advantage. 
  • Reliability: Observability, performance, resilience, threat modelling, Zero Trust and secure software delivery. 
  • Delivery: Jira, Azure DevOps or equivalent; Confluence; dashboards and delivery reporting tools. 
  • Languages: Java, Python 
  • OS: Linux, Windows
