The First Judicial District of Pennsylvania (“FJD”) is the Philadelphia County Court System and is composed of two courts: the Court of Common Pleas and the Municipal Court. The mission of the FJD is to adjudicate cases and provide services to the community within our jurisdiction while ensuring fair, timely, and accessible justice to the people of Philadelphia. The FJD is part of the Unified Judicial System reporting into the Pennsylvania Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

Job Description
Position Summary
The Pretrial Service Department of the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania’s mission is to safeguard pretrial justice while maximizing public safety and court appearance. Pretrial Services meets this mission through pre-arraignment interviews, supervised release services, appointment of counsel interviews, and enforcement of judicial orders.
This full-time position within Pretrial Services involves performing clerical and verification-related duties within The Data Verification Unit. The work involves contact with subjects and various law enforcement agencies for the purpose of warrant verifications. An employee in this position must maintain professionalism at all times, pay close attention to detail to ensure information is recorded accurately, and have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Assignments are routine in nature and must be carried out in accordance with well-defined standards, procedures, policies, and regulations.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES
This is entry-level clerical work performed under the supervision of an administrative superior. The work is routine in nature. Once learned, easily learned, the candidate must have the ability perform assigned tasks without close supervision. Employees in this class will be required to perform data entry duties on an as-needed basis.
The Data Verification Unit operates 24/7/365. Employees of this class are categorized as essential personnel and must report to work during court closures, weekends, and holidays.

Essential Functions
The following duties are considered typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Verification of bench warrants in various court systems
- Receives requests for court records related to bench warrants from corrections facilities, court officials, and the District Attorney’s office.
- Fills out forms and applications after verbal inquiries or from handwritten documents.
- Sorts and files papers and/or legal documents in a pre-established filing system.
- Performs routine data entry functions to retrieve information from court computers.
- Directs the public to appropriate departments based on simple inquiries.
- Assumes duties and assignments in the bench warrant surrender room and the bench warrant hearing courtroom when necessary
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
- Answers the telephone and may greet the public.
- Provides general information pertaining to assigned function.
- Replenishes computer printer paper, copier or fax machine paper supplies.
- Performs related functions and assignments as required or assigned by an administrative superior.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Standard office conditions.

- All employees must obtain active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) and Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET) certifications within the probationary period and maintain the same for the duration of employment in this job classification.
- All employees must pass criminal history and background investigations.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Experience in an office environment is preferred.
- Appropriate experience in the use of personal computers and Windows software applications.
- Successful completion of a background check.
- After meeting minimum application standards by a panel review, must complete an evaluation and interview.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Covid-19 vaccination recommended.
- Must work on site (not remote).

Salary Range: $31,349 – $33,398
