The Department of Planning and Development works in collaboration with communities to promote, plan, preserve, and develop successful neighborhoods for all. Reaching these goals requires city agencies to work together with residents, businesses, developers, advocates, funders, and each other. Planning and Development has a team of agencies that do just that. Our agencies include:

Job Description

The Citizens Planning Institute (CPI) will:

▪ draft Citizen Planner stories for the CPI website and updating the website,
▪ develop materials for online course sessions,
▪ assist with online (or live) classes and after-class evaluation forms, recordings and session summaries,
▪ development of program metrics and mapping,
▪ update research on planning academies nationally,
▪ assist with Department trainings and development of educational videos,
▪ develop a spring newsletter.

Essential Functions

▪ drafting Citizen Planner stories for the CPI website and updating the website,

▪ development of program metrics and mapping,
▪ updating research on planning academies nationally,
▪ assisting with Department trainings and development of educational videos,
▪ developing spring newsletter.

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The position would suit an enthusiastic detail-oriented student interested in community planning and citizen advocacy issues with good communication skills. Basic MS Office proficiency required. GIS skills are preferred but not required.
If academic credit is preferred, the Director will work with the intern to ensure the scope of responsibilities meets his/her objectives and interests. Interested candidates go through an interview process.

Qualifications

Undergraduate, graduate level preferred, good communication skills and writing skills; stated interest in the work of CPI.

Hourly Rate: $15.00/per hour
