Job Description

You’ll play a key part in protecting public health and the environment across the City of Stirling. Every day brings variety, whether you’re conducting inspections, advising the community, or supporting innovative health initiatives. You’ll report to a Senior Environmental Health Officer and collaborate with a vibrant, high-performing team where you'll have the opportunity to develop your expertise in a supportive environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Manage public and environmental health risks and compliance.
- Provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders.
- Assess applications and ensure legislative compliance.
- Conduct inspections, investigations and technical assessments.
- Maintain accurate records and regulatory documentation.
- Undertake environmental monitoring and compliance sampling.
- Prepare evidence, reports and enforcement recommendations.
- Represent the City in legal proceedings when required.
- Mentor and develop students and compliance professionals.
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for an Environmental Health Officer to join us on a permanent basis with a passion for preventative health and community wellbeing. You’ll ideally bring:
- Tertiary Qualification in Environmental Health (accredited by Environmental Health Australia - essential)
- High-level knowledge of Environmental Health principles
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong decision-making and judgement
- Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence
- Authorised person under Environmental Protection Act (Desirable)
- Local Government experience (Desirable)
- Well-developed conflict resolution skills (Desirable)
