Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you will lead and develop high-performing teams focused on data and information management, governance, integration, reporting, and analytics. You will ensure our data is clean, accessible, secure, and accurate (CASA), positioning the City to leverage data as a strategic asset and improve decision-making and operational efficiencies. 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead and develop teams focused on information and data management, governance, integration, reporting, and analytics. 

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership and informed guidance across data and integration architecture, quality, privacy and security, reporting and analytics, without being limited to a single specialist discipline. 

  • Uplift the City’s data capability by establishing practical data governance frameworks, operating models, standards, forums, and decision-making rhythms. 

  • Build strong relationships with executives, business leaders, technical teams, and data owners to embed trusted data practices across the organisation. 

  • Drive data literacy initiatives, communities of practice, data forums, and working groups that lift capability and accountability across the City.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired:

  • Significant senior experience in data, with demonstrated progression from technical data delivery into people leadership and enterprise data enablement.
  • Proven experience uplifting or establishing a data function at enterprise level from the ground up, including data governance frameworks, operating models, stewardship practices, data ownership, and data forums.
  • Strong working knowledge across data governance, data quality, integration, reporting, analytics, data privacy, security, architecture principles.
  • Experience with Microsoft/Azure modern cloud data platforms, event-driven architecture, integration patterns, and contemporary approaches to enterprise data management will be highly regarded.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence executives, technical specialists, business leaders, and data owners.
