What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead assessment of complex statutory building proposals
- Provide expert compliance advice and resolve challenging cases
- Represent the City at hearings and tribunals with confidence
- Investigate breaches and drive enforcement outcomes
- Mentor and develop a high-performing team
- Build strong stakeholder relationships and influence outcomes
- Support the Principal Building Surveyor in strategic oversight
- Champion best practice and continuous improvement
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for a highly skilled professional with strong technical and leadership capabilities. You’ll ideally bring:
- Tertiary qualification in Building or related discipline
- Building Surveyor Practitioner Registration (Level 1 or 2)
- Extensive experience in statutory building control
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and processes
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Proven ability to manage complex and sensitive matters
- Experience in staff supervision and mentoring
- Current Driver’s Licence and National Police Clearance
