Job Description
In order to be considered for this position candidate must be serving permanently in the title of Electrical Engineering Intern, or must have filed for the open-competitive Electrical Engineering Intern list, Exam #6047.
The Division of Traffic Signals and Street Lighting is seeking motivated candidates to perform responsible work in Electrical Engineering. The Candidates will engage in research, investigations, studies, or examinations related to the engineering functions or activities of a department or agency. Prepare designs and plans using AutoCAD, evaluate contract documents and specifications, working drawings, and other technical specifications and estimates of quantities. Conduct field visits and complete lighting and Traffic survey projects and any lighting improvement requests to ensure city standards, IESNA, and national electrical codes are met. The successful candidates will coordinate with design consultants and review submitted plans for the development/modification of new and/or existing signalized intersections and street lighting work. Coordinate electrical service, relocation, and other requests for utilities. Advise and make recommendations to other city and state agencies regarding traffic signal and street lighting projects. Review and approve shop drawings and catalogue cuts for construction. Maintain records of drawings, plans, maps, surveys, and inspections data.
Some assignments may require a driver's license. Preference will be given to candidate who possess a driver's license valid in the state of New York with no restrictions. This license must be maintained throughout the duration of the appointment in this position.

Qualifications
1- A baccalaureate degree in electrical or electronic engineering from an accredited college; or
2- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in electrical or electronic engineering technology and two years of full-time satisfactory experience in electrical engineering work.
