The Senior Solutions Architect is a hands-on role for a technical leader who can move seamlessly between engineering and enterprise strategy. In this role, you will shape the evolution of systems for SPEED, the program to shorten the time it takes to get new construction permitting in NYC. You will audit existing systems and design scalable, secure, and reliable solutions for data integration, analytics, and reporting, while helping set the engineering standards that support them.
The Senior Solutions Architect will partner with business stakeholders, product owners, engineers, and infrastructure teams to lead discovery and translate complex requirements into enterprise data solutions, while advancing data quality, governance, security, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities will include:
Solution Architecture
- Lead technical discovery sessions, gather requirements, and translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Work with a cross-functional product team to define biggest opportunities and tenable solutions.
- Develop solution architectures that balance performance, security, scalability, and cost.
Data Architecture
- Design and maintain enterprise data architectures, including data warehouses, data lakes and operational data stores.
- Develop data models and establish standards for data design, integration, storage, and access.
- Evaluate and implement modern data technologies and architecture patterns.
Data Engineering
- Design and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines, integrations, and automation workflows.
- Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance through monitoring and optimization.
- Implement engineering best practices, including CI/CD, version control, and documentation.
Governance & Security
- Implement data governance, master data management (MDM), metadata management, lineage, and cataloging practices.
- Establish data quality standards and ensure compliance with security and access requirements.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Partner with business and technical teams to deliver enterprise data solutions.
- Document architecture standards and lead mayoral and modernization initiatives.
Handle special projects and initiatives as assigned.
HOURS/SHIFT
Day - Due to the necessary duties of this position in a 24/7 operation, candidate may be required to work various shifts such as weekends and/or nights/evenings.

Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics or related field and six years of satisfactory full-time experience related to enterprise architecture, solutions architecture, network architecture and/or IT infrastructure systems; or
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and ten years of satisfactory full-time experience related to enterprise architecture, solutions architecture, network architecture and/or IT infrastructure systems; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above.
