Job Description

Brooklyn Community District 2 is one of 59 New York City agencies authorized by the City Charter for "planning of community life within the city, participation of citizens in city government [and]
effective organization of agencies that deliver municipal services in local communities" including advising City and State agencies and our elected officials on local land use, zoning issues, public
policy, and the City budget.

The BKCD2 District Office and Board serve 163,100 residents and stakeholders of the designated neighborhoods of BKCD2: Downtown Brooklyn, Boerum Hill, Brooklyn Heights, Fulton Ferry, DUMBO, Vinegar Hill, Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, and the Brooklyn Navy Yard. We are looking for a Part-time Community Assistant:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision and direction of the District Manager, the Community Associate supports
various District Office and Board functions, including but not limited to:
- Manage speaker curation and applicant submissions for up to three (3) Committees
- Manage spreadsheet data entry and tracking of City and State application materials
- Manage digital and physical files, logs, and records as required by City and State law
- Manage public notice files, including converting, manipulating, and naming PDFs
Draft correspondence and public notices including assisting with weekly newsletters
Conduct research and analysis to support District Office memos and Board Actions
Triage and resolve incoming resident and applicant service inquiries
Represent BKCD2 at meetings and produce memos of key issues and outcomes
Staffing for up to four (4) monthly public Committee and Board meetings from 5-9pm
NYC Financial Management System (FMS) transactions; training provided
Other support, as-needed and at the direction of the District Manager

Qualifications

1. There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position. However, the ability to understand and carry out simple instructions is required.
2. Candidates must be able to understand and be understood in English.
