About the Team

At the NYC Department of Buildings, we are responsible for ensuring the safe and lawful use of buildings and properties by enforcing the NYC Construction Codes, Energy Code, and Zoning Resolution. We facilitate compliant development with integrity, efficiency, and professionalism. The IT Operations Help Desk is the primary intake for all IT requests, notification of systems issues, and general inquiries. As new systems are developed or business units are added to existing systems, the number of requests increase weekly. The Help Desk receives several hundred requests a week, including password resets, Outlook issues, and general outages. The intern will assist with PC configuration and set up as well as work on PC related issues. Additional duties include assessing and responding to individual issues submitted to IT (ticketing), software resolution, and hardware resolution.


Position Responsibilities

Under the direction and supervision of the Deputy Director, Help Desk, the intern will:
- Work in or manage a service desk environment
- Work on system projects
- Work with ticket system, SERVICENOW, OTI.
- Create tickets for the DOB staff as requests are submitted
- Handle IT tasks such as: reset user password, moving PCs, basic Excel spreadsheet reviews, and Pivot Table creation


Major/ Field of Study
- Information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field

Qualifications

As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program, June - August each year.
