Mission is located in the lower mainland of BC and is situated in the traditional territory of the Stó꞉lō Peoples including Sq’ewlets, Leq’a:mel, Sema:th, Mathexwi, Kwantlen, and Katzie territories. Mission is a rapidly growing and dynamic community of approximately 41,500 residents, located 15 minutes north of the US border and 70 kilometers east of Vancouver. Although Mission is part of a broader metropolitan area, it still maintains its distinct and welcoming small-town character.

Job Description

Employees in this position perform a variety of customer service functions, supplemented by specific skate shop operational duties. Employees will distribute rental skate, helmets, and/or cleats during scheduled skating times. Employees will wipe down blades when skates are returned, will ensure skates and helmets are organized to keep the skate shop operational, and will replace skate laces when/as required.

Qualifications

Candidates for this role must have working knowledge of the social, cultural and recreational needs and interests of the public. They should have a passion for working in a recreation setting and customer service skills. They must also have strong skills in communication, conflict resolution and problem-solving. The candidate will have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the general public.

As the ideal candidate you will have the ability to maintain a high degree of enthusiasm and personal motivation. As well as the confidence to adapt and be flexible as required. The candidate will have proven sound judgement, ethical decision making, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.

Additional Information

Employees must be a minimum of 15 years of age. A current and satisfactory criminal record check will be required. The rate of pay for this position is $17.75. Weekend availability is required for this position.
