The Department of Public Health Logistic's is currently accepting applications for two temporary exempt 1934 Storekeeper positions. The duration is up to one year, with possibility of extension. Hours and location may vary depending on operational need.The duration is up to one year, with possibility of extension. 

Location: Laguna Honda Hospital; Monday - Friday; 7:00am - 3:30pm. may require holidays, evenings, weekends, based on needs of department.

Compensation: $29.20-$35.48 Hourly

Job Description

Appointment Type: Temporary Exempt (Category 18). - In accordance with San Francisco Charter Section 10.104, exempt employees serve at the discretion of the appointing authority. The duration is up to one year, with possibility of extension.

The qualified applicant pool resulting from this recruitment may be utilized to fill exempt vacancies (cat 16, 17, 18) at various locations within DPH.

Under general supervision, performs responsible work in the requisitioning, receipt, issuance, storage and inventory of materials, supplies and equipment; and performs related duties as required. Nature of work may involve considerable physical effort and heavy lifting. Essential duties may include but not be limited to:

  • Receives materials and supplies at a central warehouse or storeroom; checks shipments for conformity with specifications of the purchase order or requisition; enters records of items received on appropriate forms; stores materials in proper area using hand or power equipment, when necessary; makes proper entries on inventory and bin cards; may order supplies, when needed, or may call shortages to the attention of the proper authorities; makes minor purchases from a petty cash fund; may contact vendors regarding prices, specifications, or delivery particulars;
  • Codes requisitions on storeroom, fills requisitions, and arranges for delivery of supplies to users; checks requisitions against purchase orders for correctness; makes proper entries on bin cards and other records indicating the disbursement or stores;
  • Maintains inventory records; prepares inventory charts; stamps items of furniture or equipment with appropriate identification number; supervises and participates in the physical inventory of stores and equipment; may supervise assistant storekeepers in the various phases of storekeeping operations; and
  • Operates various hand or automatic equipment used in the labeling, transport and storage of supplies; may operate a light truck in connection with the pick-up or delivery of stores; may supervise and assist in the cleaning of storage areas and the maintenance of a neat, orderly storeroom or warehouse; may supervise or assist in salvage and sale or usable equipment.
  • The Storekeeper may perform other related dutes as required/assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

Requires completion of four (4) years of high school; and

Three (3) years of experience in a distribution center or warehouse in which the duties consisted of ordering, receiving, stocking, inventory control, and issuing large and varied quantities of supplies, materials, and equipment. This experience must be in an institutional organization or a large, major commercial operation, or similar setting.

One year full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40 hour work week). Any overtime hours that you work above 40 hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.

Electronic Health Record (EHR)

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Some positions in the Department of Public Health will require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to gloves, gowns, eye and face protection, and face-fitting respirators. The requirement for the use of PPE may come on short or no notice. Facial hair or any condition that interferes with a face-fitting respirator’s seal (i.e., weakens the seal between the respirator and the wearer’s bare skin) is not permitted when face-fitting respirators are worn, including during initial or periodic respirator fit-testing.  

Employees who choose not to shave and do not have either American Disabilities Act (ADA) or Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Accommodations do not have the right to alternate work assignments or the option of using a loose-fitting Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) in place of a Face Fitting Respirator.  

Medical Examination
Prior to appointment, at the Department’s expense, applicants may be required to take a tuberculosis (TB) screening test, medical examination, and/or drug test.
