Job Description

Pay range is $22.75 - $25.56 / hour

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Staffing and Scheduling, responsible for developing, coordinating and assigning schedules for nursing staff in the community. Maintains the nursing schedule in accordance with budgetary and census needs. Fills vacancies based upon best fit from a financial and skills need perspective.  Accountable for maximizing current labor force hours. Expected to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and triage priorities.

Essential Duties

  • In compliance with established staffing guidelines is responsible for creating and coordinating daily, weekly, on-call, weekend and holiday nursing schedules.
  • Tracks and reports attendance records for nursing staff.
  • Updates and orders nursing forms as required.
  • Performs clerical and data management tasks as assigned. 
  • Takes and records call ins and fills vacancies as per department guidelines. Oversees trading of shifts in compliance with department guidelines. Manages PTO requests with the oversight of the DON or designee.
  • Routinely communicates effectively with the Director of Nursing or designee regarding schedule issues.
  • Assists with troubleshooting of problems and is responsible for resolving minor complaints/concerns.
  • Manages time and attendance and approves time record for payroll purposes.  
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications & Experience

  • Education High School Diploma or equivalent. 
  • At least 1 year of proven scheduling experience in a healthcare environment Requires broad knowledge of healthcare operations, including medical terminology, compressed workweeks, shift differentials, and wage and hour laws.
  • Must be proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, Time and Attendance Payroll system
  • Must be proficient in basic business math
  • Must possess excellent communication and customer service skills. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • Light physical effort required by handling objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.
  • Sits, stands, bends and moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Interacts with residents, family members, visitors frequently.
